Turn one is sharp with a relatively flat progressive 10 - 11 degrees of banking while turns 3 and 4 are long and sweeping with even less progressive banking ranging from 8 - 9 degrees. Phoenix also features a unique "kink" in the backstretch.

These challenging specs means that your car has to handle well in order to survive a long 500 kilometer race there.

Phoenix International Raceway burst on the NASCAR scene in 1988 as Alan Kulwicki won the first race of his career and did his famous "Polish Victory Lap" for the first time.
