The Magic Mile:
This relatively flat one mile oval hosts one of the final ten Chase for the Sprint Cup races. The racing is tight and fast as the flat corners force drivers to make their cars work on the bottom to be fast.

Loudon, NH has also seen its share of NASCAR tragedy. In 2000 both Adam Petty and Kenny Irwin were killed at the speedway. In response to these terrible accidents NASCAR officials decided to use restrictor plates when the Sprint Cup series returned there in September. That race went off without a hitch with Jeff Burton leading every single lap.

The SAFER barrier system was installed at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the 2003 race.
