Home Of The Championship:
This south Florida speedway limped on to the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup scene in 1999 with a race track that was way too flat for the heavy stock cars. The single-groove track had very little passing and was a real disappontment to NASCAR fans who had hoped for the best. Then in 2002 Homestead was given the last race of the season in all three major touring divisions: Trucks, Busch and Cup. How could such a bad track host such important events? During 2003 Homestead went under the bulldozer and they fixed the problems. Changing from a flat 6 degrees of banking to a computer designed 20 degrees of proressive banking. When NASCAR returned to the speedway in 2003 they found beautiful two and three wide racing.
Now Homestead-Miami is capable of putting on a show worthy of the Championship. This is one of the most beautiful facilities in all of NASCAR for fans and teams and the racing is second to none.
