The Newest Sprint Cup Addition:
Kentucky Speedway lobbied NASCAR for years to be added to the NASCAR Sprint Cup calendar. This battle even took the form of an antitrust lawsuit against NASCAR and International Speedway Corp. That lawsuit was finally resolved in 2010.
When the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule was announced all that hard work was rewarded with a much coveted slot on the calendar.
Kentucky has been hosting NASCAR Camping World Truck series racing since 2001 and Nationwide Series racing since 2001 but 2011 will finally bring a Sprint Cup Series event. Given the cookie-cutter look and feel to the track you can expect racing similar to the other cookie-cutter tracks on the schedule.
