Rookie Season: Started 3 races in 1984 and another one in 1986. Ran for the Rookie of the Year title in 1987 when he finished 26th in points after starting 24 of the 29 races. Davey Allison won that 1987 Rookie of the Year Award over Dale.
Career Highlights: 1991 - First career win Michigan International Speedway (Wood Brothers).

1993 - Won Daytona 500 (Joe Gibbs Racing)

1995 - Joined Robert Yates Racing as replacement for injured Ernie Irvan

1996 - Won Daytona 500 (Joe Gibbs Racing)

1996 - Won Brickyard 400 (Joe Gibbs Racing)

1999 - Won NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Championship
