Talladega Nights
This movie is about two childhood friends who grow up to be NASCAR teammates.
Ricky Bobby is a win-or-wreck kind of driver who quickly makes his way to the top of the NASCAR world. Trouble strikes when a French Formula One driver comes to NASCAR and Ricky Bobby is involved in a wreck that tests his mental stability.
The Good
This is a very funny movie. I laughed out loud a number of times. From the opening quote right through the final credits there are many, many laughs to be had.
Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are very funny as lifelong friends who become NASCAR teammates. They play off each other very well and the result is often hilarious.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jamie McMurray make cameo appearances in the film along with many members of the NASCAR television broadcast teams. These are well done and pretty funny.
The Bad
In order to enjoy this movie you have to check your brain at the door. The NASCAR bits are simply ridiculous. "Days Of Thunder" had better racing, physics and reality than this silly film.
But honestly, were you expecting The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby to be a NASCAR documentary?
The Verdict - Is Talladega Nights Any Good?
If you are looking for a NASCAR movie then you'll want to pass on Talladega Nights. However, if you want to see a very funny movie that happens to be set in NASCAR's world then this fills that bill nicely.
