2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Schedule
The biggest change on this season's calendar involves Kansas Speedway. Kansas intends to repave the speedway after their spring event. In order to have the new surface ready to race on before their fall race NASCAR moved the spring Kansas race earlier in the season and pushed the fall race deeper into the schedule. This should allow the new surface time to age so it will be ready to go.
To allow the repaving to get started as soon as possible Talladega Superspeedway adjusted their dates to make way for Kansas. Talladega was the eighth race of the season but now Kansas takes over that April 22nd date and Talladega's spring race is the first weekend in May.
At the other end of the schedule Talladega again was affected. Talladega and Kansas swapped Chase races moving Talladega's "Wild Card" show up to October 7th as the fourth Chase event while Kansas will run two weeks later as the 6th Chase race on October 21st.
Other minor changes to the schedule include a one week later start to the season in Daytona, Dover returning to it's first weekend in June slot after Charlotte and some minor shuffling to accommodate Easter and the Fourth of July.
After the break is the complete 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule.
