2008 Camping World RV 400 at Dover International Speedway:

The 2008 Camping World RV 400 at Dover International Speedway is race number two in the 2008 Chase for the Cup.

Last week Chase favorite Kyle Busch stumbled to a 34th place finish in New Hampshire and fell from first to eighth in points. Kyle needs to back up his June Dover win with a strong run on Sunday or his 2008 Chase dreams will slip away.

Tickets:

Speedway ticket office 302-734-RACE or 800-441-RACE

The Track:

Dover Downs is a high-banked one-mile concrete oval. The high-grip surface lets drivers really get aggressive and push the car, but at the expense of tire wear.

On a typical race day in Dover you'll see a number of different strategies play out. The race can be won by charging hard all day, by laying back and saving your tires for the end, or even by playing the fuel mileage game. You just never know what Dover will bring.

Race Distance:

400 Laps = 400 Miles

The Big Picture:

Carl Edwards and Jimmie Johnson come to Dover tied atop the Sprint Cup point standings. Greg Biffle's New Hampshire win moved him up six places to third. Biffle is now just 30 points behind the two leaders.
  1. Carl Edwards -0
  2. Jimmie Johnson -0
  3. Greg Biffle -30
  4. Dale Earnhardt Jr. -50
  5. Jeff Burton -50
  6. Denny Hamlin -72
  7. Tony Stewart -73
  8. Kyle Busch -74
  9. Clint Bowyer -83
  10. Kevin Harvick -86
  11. Jeff Gordon -99
  12. Matt Kenseth -177

Storylines:

Kyle Busch is in the spotlight this weekend. Busch was running away with the points after the first 26 races of the 2008 season. He entered last week's race as the point leader because he had the most wins during the regular season.

A mechanical problem last week in New Hampshire turned into a crash and Kyle Busch fell to eighth overall.

However Kyle won the race here in June in dominating fashion. Dover is a good opportunity for him to start climbing back towards the top. Can he get the job done this weekend?

Media Coverage:

TV: ABC Sunday, September 21st, 1:00PM Eastern.

Radio: MRN and SIRIUS Satellite

Actual Race: 2:10 PM Eastern

Recent Events:

2007 Winner: Carl Edwards

2007 Polesitter: Jimmie Johnson

Last Year:

Last year Dover chewed up the Chasers. Nine of the twelve Chasers were involved in some sort of incident during the race.

Carl Edwards overcame a sticky throttle cable early in the race to battle his way back through traffic to take the win.

Predictions:

The Roush-Fenway Racing team has long had Dover figured out. Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle swept the top two spots a year ago. Then in June of 2008 Edwards, Biffle and Matt Kenseth finished second through fourth.

This makes my picks this weekend easy. Carl Edwards has an average finish of 1.5 in the last two Dover races. He comes into this week's race tied for the point lead and fully capable of repeating his past Dover success.

My backup pick is Edwards' teammate Greg Biffle. Biffle has finished third here the last two races and has only been outside the top eight once since he won in Dover in the Spring of 2005. Biffle has momentum coming off last week's New Hampshire win and has to be considered a favorite again this week.
