2008 marks the 50th running of the Daytona 500. A lot has changed in NASCAR since that very first Daytona 500 was run on the high banks of Daytona International Speedway. Speed, safety and competition have all seen great advances through the decades. Here are the major advances in 50 years of Daytona 500 race cars.
