The Daytona 500 has a unique qualifying format that is unlike any other race on the NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule. Although this race has time trials just like every other race the real qualifying was completed during today's Gatorade Duel at Daytona.

These two 150-mile qualifying races determine the starting positions for everyone except the front row. These two races also determine which eight non-guaranteed drivers get to qualify for the race.

For those in the top 35 in car owner points this race is a test session for Sunday's Daytona 500. For those outside of the top 35 this race is an all-out battle to race their way into the biggest event in American motorsports.

Would Hendrick Motorsports continue their domination of 2008 Speed Weeks after winning the Budweiser Shootout and the pole for the Daytona 500? Will Toyota be able continue their strong start to 2008 after capturing the second fastest time in qualifying?

These questions and more would all unfold in the two 150 mile qualifying races known as the Gatorade Duel at Daytona.
