2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Awards Banquet
The 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Awards Banquet was held in New York City on Friday night. Jimmie Johnson was honored for his third consecutive Championship and picked up a check for more than $7.2 million. In addition NASCAR celebrated their 60th birthday with a look back at the history of he sport.

2008 Champions Week Schedule
This weekend in New York City Jimmie Johnson will collect his third consecutive NASCAR Championship trophy and the big check that goes along with it. In addition to the banquet on Friday there are a full week of activities planned for Johnson and the rest of NASCAR's top ten finishers in New York City.

2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series Point Standings
Carl Edwards did everything that he could to overcome Clint Bowyer's point lead in the 2008 Nationwide Series championship. Edwards' season ending charge included wins in three of the last four races but he ended up 21 points short of his ultimate goal. Clint Bowyer played it safe in Homestead and finished fifth to clinch the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series title.

2008 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Point Standings
In 2008 Johnny Benson and Ron Hornaday put on one of the most thrilling points battles in the history of NASCAR. Whichever driver finished in front in Homestead would win the 2008 Craftsman Truck Series title. It came down to the last lap as Benson finished 7th to Hornaday's 8th place effort. This was as close as a NASCAR points battle can be.

2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Point Standings
Jimmie Johnson had a very impressive 2008 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Johnson won three Chase races in 2008, was only outside of the top ten twice and never finished worse than fifteenth. This was a dominating Chase performance as Jimmie Johnson claimed his third NASCAR Sprint Cup title in a row.

The 2008 Ford 400 was the final race of the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup season. Jimmie Johnson came into the race just needing to stay out of trouble in order to clinch the 2008 Championship. His challenger Carl Edwards did everything he could to catch Johnson including leading the most laps and winning the race. However it wasn't enough to close on Johnson who played it safe and finished safely to claim the 2008 Sprint Cup championship.

Jimmie Johnson Almost Clinches 2008 Sprint Cup Championship in Phoenix
Jimmie Johnson will have to wait one more week to hold the NASCAR Sprint Cup. He could have clinched this week during the 2008 Checker O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway. Johnson did his part by winning the race but Carl Edwards clung to hope with a fourth place effort. The 2008 Chase for the Cup will be decided at the final race of the season in Homestead.

Carl Edwards had the fastest car for most of the 2008 Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway but had to rely on pit strategy to get the victory. The 2008 Pep Boys Auto 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway continued Jimmie Johnson's incredible 2008 Chase run. Johnson overcame an early mistake to finish a strong second and extend his point lead. Carl Edwards won the race and moved to second but it seems to be too little too late for his 2008 Championship hopes.

The first Chase race of the year is gaining a well-deserved reputation for being unpredictable. Last year Clint Bowyer won his first race ever. This year Greg Biffle found Victory Lane for his first win of 2008. Kyle Busch had dominated much of 2008 and came into the 2008 Chase for the Cup as the point leader. That was shortlived though as he had a suspension failure. Kyle Busch had a very long day.

There were many side-by-side battles for the lead during the day and the point battle was in doubt until the end. Jimmie Johnson held off a hard-charging Tony Stewart for the win. At the back of the top twelve Clint Bowyer did exactly what he needed to do today to claim the final Chase qualifying spot.

Jimmie Johnson demonstrated tonight why he should not be counted out. Johnson showed real strength tonight in dominating the 2008 Pepsi 500 at Auto Club Speedway. Unfortunately he made the race incredibly boring to watch since this race was never in doubt.

The 2008 3M Performance 400 presented by Bondo at Michigan International Speedway had big implications for the the 2008 Chase. Carl Edwards scored the win to earn ten more bonus points and cut his Chase deficit to just 40 points. At the other end of the top twelve there were big swings in the standings which will likely help determine who will be in the Chase and who will spend the last ten races of 2008 battling for eleventh.

Kyle Busch Completes 2008 Road Course Sweep
The 2008 Centurion Boats at the Glen demonstrated two basic facts about the 2008 Sprint Cup season. The first is that Kyle Busch is the real deal as he claimed his eighth win of 2008 and completed the road course sweep. The second fact is that NASCAR racing is dangerous even on the relatively slow road courses. This race saw a red flag for a nine-car pileup. David Gilliland took some hard hits but fortunately everyone walked away.

The 2008 Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 brought the focus of the NASCAR Sprint Cup series back to the great racing and pit strategy that NASCAR is normally known for. Carl Edwards team made all the right calls to claim the win while Mark Martin's team demonstrated just how unforgiving this sport can be.

The 2008 Brickyard 400 was easily the worst race of 2008. Tire problems forced NASCAR to throw a competition caution every nine laps of green flag racing to try to prevent blowouts. This disjointed event was a pathetic excuse for a race.

Chicagoland Speedway isn't know for its exciting racing. However the 2008 LifeLock.com 400 made up for 265 laps of boredom with a two lap thrilling finish. Kyle Busch lead the most laps but Jimmie Johnson looked like he had the fastest car at the end. Busch simply out-drove Johnson for the final two lap shootout and stole the win.

Kyle Busch Survives Wreck Filled Daytona Finish for Sixth Win of 2008
The 2008 Coke Zero 400 at Daytona gave the restrictor plate racing fans everything that they love. This race featured a photo finish after a green-white-checkers restart which saw Kyle Busch beat Carl Edwards by half a carlength.
