NASCAR Takes On New York:
NASCAR takes over New York City this week for the traditional Champions Week activities. There are many things for NASCAR fans to do and see this week in the Big Apple. The top ten NASCAR drivers will make their Victory Lap around the city and there are a number of fan activities. This week culminates in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup banquet at the Waldorf Astoria hotel. Here are some of the Champions Week activities for fans.
NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series™ Champion's Week “Victory Lap”:
On Wednesday the top ten drivers will drive 1.5 miles through the streets of New York City.
The procession will begin at approximately 8:30 am on Wednesday November 28th. This "Victory Lap" is scheduled for approximately one hour.
The route:
- Start: 44th Street and Broadway
- Left on Broadway
- South on Broadway towards 42nd Street
- Left (heading east) on 42nd Street
- Left (heading north) on Madison Avenue
- Left (heading west) on 53rd Street
- Left (heading south) on Broadway
- Veer right on 7th Avenue
- Concludes on 7th Avenue and 43rd Street in front of the Hard Rock Café
"Victory Lap" Fan Zones:
If you would like to see the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Victory Lap procession through the streets of New York City on Wednesday NASCAR recommends the following Double Decker Bus Fan Zones.
- Madison Avenue and 43rd Street
- 53rd Street and 5th Avenue
- Broadway and 47th Street
- Broadway and 44th Street
Aflac Fan Fest:
The Aflac Fan Fest will be held Thursday and Friday at the Hard Rock Cafe Times Square. From 11am until 8pm on both days NASCAR fans can participate in interactive events, driver and crew appearances contests and more. The Aflac Fan Fest is free and open to the public.
2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Awards Banquet:
This year's NEXTEL Cup banquet will be held on Friday night, November 30th at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.
ESPN Classic will have the live broadcast starting at 9pm Eastern.
This year the featured entertainment will be Kelly Clarkson.
