Martin Truex Jr. Wins The NASCAR NEXTEL Open
The NEXTEL Open changed a little bit this year as the top two drivers qualified for the 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge. This forty lap event is broken up into two twenty lap segments with a competition yellow in the middle where teams can pit if they want to. This is the last chance for drivers to make the NEXTEL All-Star Challenge and drivers were willing to lay it all on the line to get a shot at the $1,000,000 payday.
Jeff Gordon Wins Rain Delayed Dodge Avenger 500 in Darlington
Darlington is famous for being hard to drive. The Car of Tomorrow is also getting a reputation for being hard to handle. When we put the two together today we saw a lot of cars slipping and sliding up into the outside wall and continuing on. Once again we saw Chevrolet domination as Jeff Gordon's team made a great strategy decision that got him the lead at a crucial time. This race was more a battle of driver versus car and track than driver versus driver.
Jimmie Johnson Wins Rain Delayed Richmond Race
It took almost 24 hours to get the 2007 Crown Royal Presents The Jim Stewart 400 at Richmond International Raceway in the books as rain delayed the scheduled Saturday night start until Sunday afternoon.
When the race did go off it was worth the wait. The Car of Tomorrow once again brought great racing to the fans as there was exciting side-by-side racing and multiple lead changes throughout the race.
Jeff Gordon Scores Talladega Victory
Talladega kept the fans on the edge of their seats today. The Aarons 499 featured a green-white-checkers finish and dozens of lead changes. Unfortunately those same people who were treated to a classic Talladega race then chose to disgrace themselves by once again throwing garbage on the track when they didn't like the outcome.
Jeff Gordon Makes History With Phoenix Win
The 2007 Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway was largely uneventful as the Car of Tomorrow returned for the third time. The Car of Tomorrow was a non-event this time as drivers seem to have adapted to the new car style. This race did feature a good battle near the end of the race as Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart traded the lead back and forth with just 12 laps to go. However Gordon had too much for Stewart at the end and took the win.
Jeff Burton Becomes First Texas Repeater
Today Texas Motor Speedway lived up to its reputation of being unpredictable. The 2007 SAMSUNG 500 saw a number of top contenders booted from contention over the final 100 laps. This race was another good one as the lead changed hands twice in the final twenty laps including a last lap pass for the win as Jeff Burton beat Matt Kenseth back to the stripe to become the first repeat winner in Texas Motor Speedway history.
Jimmie Johnson Holds Off Jeff Gordon For Martinsville Win
NASCAR's new Car of Tomorrow has participated in two races so far and both races have featured great finishes. Last week Kyle Busch held off Jeff Burton by half a carlength. Today Jimmie Johnson held off teammate Jeff Gordon by half a carlength to claim the win in Martinsville. If the Car of Tomorrow can keep providing great finishes like this fans will flock to the new car.
Kyle Busch Puts Impala SS in Victory Lane with First Bristol Win
The Car of Tomorrow finally became the Car of Today as Bristol Motor Speedway hosted the Food City 500 today. Kyle Busch nipped Jeff Burton by half a carlength to go down in history as the first driver to ever win in NASCAR's new body style.
The racing was tight and pit strategy had a lot to do with the outcome. For all the hype it was good to see that Bristol was not greatly affected by the new car.
Jimmie Johnson Wins Atlanta for Second NEXTEL Cup Victory In-A-Row
The 2007 Kobalt Tools 500 in Atlanta Motor Speedway didn't have much to keep fans interested for much of the race. However at the very end Atlanta Motor Speedway delivered an exciting finish. Jimmie Johnson tracked down Tony Stewart at the end and made the pass with just three laps to go.

There was a lot of concern from the drivers coming into the UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400. Higher banking and new pavement brought speeds up. Goodyear brought a harder tire and Mother Nature brought warmer weather. These three factors combined to make for a very fast and very slick race track. Drivers struggled early and the race started with a rash of cautions. Eventually the drivers settled down and the fastest cars came to the front.
Matt Kenseth Wins 2007 Auto Club 500 in California
California Speedway is not known for great finishes and thrilling racing. The 2007 Auto Club 500 was no different. Some late race cautions added a little drama to the finish but this one was never in doubt as Matt Kenseth drove away for the win.
Kevin Harvick Wins Thrilling 2007 Daytona 500
The 2007 Daytona 500 lived up to the hype with an incredible finish. Kevin Harvick and Mark Martin were door-to-door with the field wrecking behind them. Harvick nipped him at the line by just .02 seconds to take the win. This was quite a race as the two fastest cars crashed out together while leading, there were multiple multi-car wrecks and a great finish. 2007 showed us everything that a Daytona 500 can be.
Gatorade Duels Finalize 2007 Daytona 500 Starting Lineup
The Daytona 500 has a unique qualifying process where the majority of the starting positions are determined by a pair of 150-mile qualifying races called the Gatorade Duels. 35 drivers are guaranteed a starting position based on their 2006 car owner points. Only two cars out of nine per race can race their way in. The 2007 Gatorade Duels were exciting as the battle to qualify for the race came right down to the wire in both Duels.
