Kevin Harvick Wins Thrilling 2007 Daytona 500
The 2007 Daytona 500 lived up to the hype with an incredible finish. Kevin Harvick and Mark Martin were door-to-door with the field wrecking behind them. Harvick nipped him at the line by just .02 seconds to take the win. This was quite a race as the two fastest cars crashed out together while leading, there were multiple multi-car wrecks and a great finish. 2007 showed us everything that a Daytona 500 can be.
Matt Kenseth Wins 2007 Auto Club 500 in California
California Speedway is not known for great finishes and thrilling racing. The 2007 Auto Club 500 was no different. Some late race cautions added a little drama to the finish but this one was never in doubt as Matt Kenseth drove away for the win.
Jimmie Johnson Three-Peats Las Vegas
There was a lot of concern from the drivers coming into the UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400. Higher banking and new pavement brought speeds up. Goodyear brought a harder tire and Mother Nature brought warmer weather. These three factors combined to make for a very fast and very slick race track. Drivers struggled early and the race started with a rash of cautions. Eventually the drivers settled down and the fastest cars came to the front.
Jimmie Johnson Wins Atlanta for Second NEXTEL Cup Victory In-A-Row
The 2007 Kobalt Tools 500 in Atlanta Motor Speedway didn't have much to keep fans interested for much of the race. However at the very end Atlanta Motor Speedway delivered an exciting finish. Jimmie Johnson tracked down Tony Stewart at the end and made the pass with just three laps to go.
Kyle Busch Puts Impala SS in Victory Lane with First Bristol Win
The Car of Tomorrow finally became the Car of Today as Bristol Motor Speedway hosted the Food City 500 today. Kyle Busch nipped Jeff Burton by half a carlength to go down in history as the first driver to ever win in NASCAR's new body style. The racing was tight and pit strategy had a lot to do with the outcome. For all the hype it was good to see that Bristol was not greatly affected by the new car.
Jimmie Johnson Holds Off Jeff Gordon For Martinsville Win
NASCAR's new Car of Tomorrow has participated in two races so far and both races have featured great finishes. Last week Kyle Busch held off Jeff Burton by half a carlentgh. Today Jimmie Johnson held off teammate Jeff Gordon by half a carlength to claim the win in Martinsville. If the Car of Tomorrow can keep providing great finishes like this fans will flock to the new car.
Jeff Burton Becomes First Texas Repeater
Today Texas Motor Speedway lived up to its reputation of being unpredictable. The 2007 SAMSUNG 500 saw a number of top contenders booted from contention over the final 100 laps. This race was another good one as the lead changed hands twice in the final twenty laps including a last lap pass for the win as Jeff Burton beat Matt Kenseth back to the stripe to become the first repeat winner in Texas Motor Speedway history.
Jeff Gordon Makes History With Phoenix Win
The 2007 Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway was largely uneventful as the Car of Tomorrow returned for the third time. The Car of Tomorrow was a non-event this time as drivers seem to have adapted to the new car style. This race did feature a good battle near the end of the race as Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart traded the lead back and forth with just 12 laps to go. However Gordon had too much for Stewart at the end and took the win.
Jeff Gordon Scores Talladega Victory
Talladega kept the fans on the edge of their seats today. The Aarons 499 featured a green-white-checkers finish and dozens of lead changes. Unfortunately those same people who were treated to a classic Talladega race then chose to disgrace themselves by once again throwing garbage on the track when they didn't like the outcome.
Jimmie Johnson Wins Rain Delayed Richmond Race
It took almost 24 hours to get the 2007 Crown Royal Presents The Jim Stewart 400 at Richmond International Raceway in the books as rain delayed the scheduled Saturday night start until Sunday afternoon. When the race did go off it was worth the wait. The Car of Tomorrow once again brought great racing to the fans as there was exciting side-by-side racing and multiple lead changes throughout the race.
Jeff Gordon Wins Rain Delayed Dodge Avenger 500 in Darlington
Darlington is famous for being hard to drive. The Car of Tomorrow is also getting a reputation for being hard to handle. When we put the two together today we saw a lot of cars slipping and sliding up into the outside wall and continuing on. Once again we saw Chevrolet domination as Jeff Gordon's team made a great strategy decision that got him the lead at a crucial time. This race was more a battle of driver versus car and track than driver versus driver.
Martin Truex Jr. Wins The NASCAR NEXTEL Open
The NEXTEL Open changed a little bit this year as the top two drivers qualified for the 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge. This forty lap event is broken up into two twenty lap segments with a competition yellow in the middle where teams can pit if they want to. This is the last chance for drivers to make the NEXTEL All-Star Challenge and drivers were willing to lay it all on the line to get a shot at the $1,000,000 payday.
Casey Mears Scores First NEXTEL Cup Win with 2007 Coca-Cola 600 Victory
The 2007 Coca-Cola 600 had an interesting finish after a long night. The first 100 miles were marred by two multi-car accidents that damaged nearly half of the field. Jeff Gordon Wins Rain-Shortened Pocono
The 2007 Pocono 500 turned out to be an exercise in pit strategy. Rain delayed the start of the race and then brought out the red flag just past the halfway point. Jeff Gordon's crew chief made exactly the right call and Gordon was out front when the skies opened up. Gordon was out of tires, brakes and fuel but still managed to claim the 2007 Pocono 500 victory.
Carl Edwards Flips For 2007 Michigan Win
NEXTEL Cup races at Michigan International Speedway seem to often be decided on strategy and fuel mileage. Today's 2007 Citizens Bank 400 followed that trend as Carl Edwards had enough gas to overcome a pit road penalty and break a two year winless streak.
Rookie Juan Pablo Montoya Wins At Infineon Raceway
The 2007 Toyota / Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway was all about the strategy. Fuel mileage was key as some drivers stayed out to stretch the final fuel run while others played it safe and headed for pit road. Rookie Juan Pablo Montoyas team made the right call. Montoya, the former Formula One racer, did his part in the drivers seat and drove the #42 to his first career NEXTEL Cup win.
Denny Hamlin Holds Off Hard Charging Jeff Gordon For New Hampshire Win
The 2007 LENOX Industrial Tools 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway didn't have a lot to get people excited for much of the race. Denny Hamlin beat Jeff Gordon to the checkered flag by .068 seconds which translates to less than one car length on the track.
Jamie McMurray Wins Thrilling 2007 Pepsi 400 in Daytona
The 2007 Pepsi 400 was the final restrictor plate race for the old-style car. The car went out with a bang as tonight's race was tied for the second closest finish since electronic scoring came to NASCAR. Jamie McMurray overcame a black flag for driving out of bounds early in the race to score a big Pepsi 400 win by just .005 seconds over Kyle Busch.
Tony Stewart Picks Up First Win Of 2007 With 2007 Chicagoland Victory
Chicagoland Speedway is not known for its great NEXTEL Cup racing. Today's 2007 USG Sheetrock 400 was never really in doubt. Jimmie Johnson dominated the first part of the race but found the outside wall. Tony Stewart then dominated the second half of the race and cruised to the easy win.
Tony Stewart Wins 2007 Brickyard 400 Then Swears In Victory Lane
The Allstate 400 at the Brickyard is one of NASCAR's biggest races. However, it is not typically one of NASCAR's best races. The 2007 edition saw the drivers bend up a lot of sheet metal in the beginning of the race and a pass for the win with just ten laps to go. However the biggest moment of the race may have happened after the race with a slip of the tounge. Will Tony Stewart still be happy on Tuesday when NASCAR announces the fines?
Kurt Busch Dominates Pennsylvania 500 - Robby Gordon Suspended
Kurt Busch had his Penske Dodge hooked up and hauling at Pocono Raceway today. The Pennsylvania 500 was never in doubt as Kurt Busch dominated the event. Busch lead 175 laps of the 200 lap race. Robby Gordon made headlines this weekend with a controversial performance during the Busch race in Montreal. NASCAR suspended Gordon from today's Pennsylvania 500 for his actions.
Tony Stewart Survived Exciting Finish To Win 2007 Centurion Boats at The Glen

The 3M Performance 400 saw an unprecedented rain delay. The race ran almost 48 hours after its scheduled start time. NASCAR finally got all 400 miles in on a rare Tuesday race as Kurt Busch won it easily after dominating much of the day.
Carl Edwards Wins Very Different 2007 Bristol Night Race
The 2007 Sharpie 500 was not a typical Bristol Motor Speedway night race. The reconfigured race track changed the tempo and flow of the race but not the intensity. Instead of short tempers we got long greens. The racing was great as a second groove added an entirely new dimension to a Bristol Motor Speedway race. Carl Edwards and Kasey Kahne dominated the night and finished one-two with Carl Edwards pulling off his famous post-race backflip at the short-track racers paradise.
Jimmie Johnson Wins 2007 Sharp AQUOS 500 Locks Spot in 2007 Chase
Jimmie Johnson improved his 2007 Chase seeding by scoring the victory in California. His win gives him ten additional bonus points when the Chase begins in two weeks. In the battle for twelfth only Dale Earnhardt Jr. remains with a shot at cracking the top twelve. Kurt Busch moved up one spot to eleventh leaving Kevin Harvick on the hotseat next week in Richmond.
Jimmie Johnson Extends Chase Bonus Point Lead With Richmond Win
The 2007 Chevy Rock and Roll 400 finalized the 2007 Chase for the Cup field. Jimmie Johnson earned ten additional Chase bonus points by claiming tonight's Richmond International Raceway victory. The spotlight was on NASCAR's most popular driver as Dale Earnhardt Jr. tried to race his way into the Chase. His hill was just too steep to climb and Kevin Harvick was able to stay out of trouble and clinch the final Chase spot.
Clint Bowyer Finds First Career Win In New Hampshire
Clint Bowyer came into the 2007 Chase for the Cup as the only one of the twelve Chase drivers without a 2007 victory. In fact, Bowyer had never won a NEXTEL Cup race in his career. Clint Bowyer fixed that problem today. Bowyer dominated today's Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway. He lead 222 of the 300 laps and rolled home for the easy win.
Carl Edwards Finds 2007 Chase Win In Dover
Dover International Speedway is a tough race track. Each fall Dover takes its toll on the Chasers as many Chase drivers seem to have trouble here. The 2007 Dodge Dealers 400 was no exception as Chasers were falling by the wayside throughout the race. Carl Edwards recovered from problems of his own and claimed the win during this grueling Dover race.
Greg Biffle Coasts to Controversial Kansas Win
The 2007 LifeLock 400 at Kansas Speedway helped define the 2007 Chase for the Cup. Coming into the race there were six drivers within 28 points of the lead. After today's race in Kansas three drivers are locked in the battle for the Championship as seven Chasers found disastrous luck on the tricky 1.5 mile oval. If Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon or Clint Bowyer end up with the 2007 Championship their ability to avoid disaster today in Kansas will have been a key point in their Chase.
Jeff Gordon Wins First Car of Tomorrow Race at Talladega
The 2007 UAW-Ford 500 was the first ever restrictor plate race for the Car of Tomorrow. There were a lot of unknowns coming into this race but the end result was more of the same. The finish was a mad scramble like we are used to seeing at Talladega. Also, the top drivers rose to the top as point leaders Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson finished one-two. Fortunately the Car of Tomorrow was not a factor in this critical 2007 Chase race.
Jeff Gordon Extends His Chase Lead With Lowes Win
For the second week in a row Jeff Gordon staked a claim on the 2007 NEXTEL Cup Championship. Point leader Jeff Gordon doesn't have any intention of coasting to the title. Tonight at Lowes Motor Speedway Gordon backed up his Talladega win with another victory when he won the 2007 Bank of America 500.
Jimmie Johnson Wins Grueling 2007 Martinsville Chase Race
Hendrick Motorsports drivers have dominated at Martinsville Speedway in recent years. Today's 2007 Subway 500 was no exception as Hendrick drivers won the pole, lead the most laps and scored the win. Jimmie Johnson had his car working well for each of the race's 21 green flags and claimed the win on a bump-and-grind Martinsville afternoon.
Jimmie Johnson Closes Chase Gap With Atlanta Win
Atlanta Motor Speedway has a long history of great races. Today's may not go down in history as the greatest, but it might qualify as the most unusual. The finish was crazy as what looked to be a fuel mileage race turned into a battle for survival as Jimmie Johnson avoided two unusual cautions in the closing laps to claim the win.
Jimmie Johnson Takes Over Chase Lead With Texas Win
Jimmie Johnson left no doubt about his 2007 Chase intentions. Johnson took the win and the Chase point lead in Texas today. This was Johnson's third Chase win in-a-row. He now leads Jeff Gordon by 30 points with just two races remaining. At the rate he is going Jimmie Johnson could win the last two races of the season and shut out his Chase opponents.
Jimmie Johnson Scores Phoenix for Fourth Consecutive 2007 NEXTEL Cup Win
No one can accuse Jimmie Johnson of coasting to his second consecutive NEXTEL Cup Championship. When the series visited Phoenix International Raceway for the 2007 Checker Auto Parts 500 Jimmie Johnson scored his fourth consecutive NEXTEL Cup victory and took a commanding 86 point lead in the points.
Jimmie Johnson Wins Back-To-Back Championships While Kenseth Wins Homestead Race
Jimmie Johnson was squarely in the spotlight today as he came into the 2007 Ford 400 with the point lead. Johnson and his Hendrick Motorsports team were conservative all day long and clinched the Championship. Matt Kenseth dominated the race all day long and picked up the easy win. This win vaulted Kenseth up to fourth in points. This is a huge leap forward from his twelfth place position from just a few races ago.
