Great Race

Now this is the way NASCAR is supposed to be. Two of the best door-to-door out of turn four on the final lap. It was clean hard racing all the way. Both drivers showed a great deal of class and respect for each other (has Gordon learned something since Darlington last year?) and it showed in the fantastic racing that resulted.

Thanks guys, it was a show for the books.

A Little Insanity

During the pre-race show one of the broadcasters said that he was trying to find the tape of Rusty Wallace's last victory but it was hidden under a thick layer of dust. Apparently Rusty heard this comment and was out to prove them wrong on the race track. After having a strong car for most of the day Rusty must have decided that it was sheer lack of aggression that was keeping him out of Victory Lane. So he tried to make up for it.

Rusty punted Jeff Burton who slid sideways across the apron and somehow managed to save the car. Then just a couple of laps later Rusty scratches his front bumper again. This time Bobby Labonte was the victim as Rusty simply got impatient and made a mistake that cost Bobby his first ever top five finish on a short track.

Now I was a big defender of Rusty's in the spring when he and Gordon got together. But after this weekend's disturbing display of impatience and poor judgement I'll have to go back and watch the tape.

As Rusty's losing streak gets longer his patience is getting shorter, and that's not going to help him find Victory Lane any sooner.
