Top Row Seat - There Is No "I" In NASCAR

NOTE: This arrived in my e-mail box from an old friend. He's not a poet or a writer of any sort. This just kind of occurred to him. Not bad for an amateur. ;)

There Is No "I" In NASCAR

There is no "I" in NASCAR
and for the people involved it's clear
it takes a whole team to make it work
not just jump in the car and steer.

The big names you hear here every week
like LaBonte, Earnhardt & Rudd,
if it was not for the team concept
all of their names would be Mud.

Within a team there's jobs to do
and everyone plays a part
from the building of the engine
to fabricating parts.

Changing tires, pumping gas
and answering the phone
driving the truck, flying the plane,
the list goes on and on.

So when the flagman throws the green
on Sundays big ol' race,
stop and take a minute
and see the people in their place.

Commentators, cameramen
and the fellas in the truck.
The scorers and officials,
most aren't there for the buck.

When you hear that winning speech
and the driver takes a sigh,
I ask for you to listen,
about this story about "I"
