Highlights
Highlights from the 2000 season include the very impressive rookie crop. Matt Kenseth held off his close friend and competitor Dale Earnhardt Jr. to clinch the Rookie Of The Year title. There is no doubt that we all got a glimpse of the the future of NASCAR as this rookie crop dominated the entire month of May.
One of the racing highlights of the 2000 season was the fall race at Talladega. New restrictor plate aerodynamic rules opened up the competition and gave us one of the most competitive races in history.
At the end of the 2000 season the big story was clearly the very impressive season that Bobby Labonte and his Joe Gibbs Racing team was able to put together to win the 2000 Winston Cup Championship.
Overall, the 2000 NASCAR season was an emotional rollercoaster for everyone involved, but there are already great stories brewing for 2001 as Johnny Benson attracted one of the sports top sponsors in Valvoline for next season and Todd Bodine will return to Winston Cup in 2001 as Jimmy Spencer's teammate.
