2013 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Schedule

Once again the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series has made some big changes to the schedule. The trucks will be dirt tracking for the first time in 2013 and the series will leave the country to help maintain NASCAR's international presence. 2013 is going to be a great year for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

No Longer Trucking

The Camping World Truck Series remains at twenty-two events so in order to make room for the two new additions a couple of other race tracks had to give up their slots on the calendar.

First up the most dramatic loss of the year is that Atlanta Motor Speedway will not host the Camping World Truck Series in 2013. NASCAR is trying to redirect the trucks back to their short track roots and replacing the high-speed Atlanta Motor Speedway race certainly fits that direction.

The other deletion from the 2013 Camping World calendar is the second Kentucky race. In 2012 Kentucky added a second race to help offset the races that had been lost the previous year. Kentucky hosted the trucks in June and again in September. In 2013 Kentucky will give back one of those races to help make room for the two new exciting events. Next year the trucks will only visit Kentucky in June. Again, NASCAR replacing a cookie cutter race with something unique can only benefit the sport. This change will not generate any complaints from me.

New and Interesting

Headlining the 2013 Camping World Truck Series schedule for me is the addition of a dirt race at Tony Stewart's Eldora Speedway in Ohio. The half-mile high-banked dirt oval host many great dirt events including the World of Outlaws, Late Models and anything else that likes to race sideways. Now we will get to see the Camping World Truck Series take their turn on the dirt.

This Eldora race is the highlight of the entire NASCAR calendar for me. I can't wait to see this one.

The other big change for 2013 is the addition of the Camping World Truck Series' first international event. On September 1st the trucks will head north to Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada to take on their 2.459 mile road course at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

This will be the first road course race for the Camping World Truck Series since 2000 and the first even truck race outside of the United States. This race maintains NASCAR's international presence since the Nationwide Series will not return to Montreal next season.

The 2013 Camping World Truck Series schedule features the most exciting changes. This is going to be a great year for the trucks on SPEED.

After the break is the complete 2013 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule.
