About The Steering Wheel Tests

How I tested and rated the wheels

Logitech Momo Racing Wheel

The Logitech Momo Racing Wheel

All testing (except the Hyper Stimulator) was done on my Dell PCs. Early tests were done on a PIII 600, later testing was done on my Pentium 4 3.2Ghz machine with an ATI 9800 Pro video card. Both systems also use 19 inch Trinitron monitors.

My desk is (I believe) unusually thick with a thick piece of molding on the front of the keyboard tray. This setup provided a great challenge in the "Convenience" tests. If the wheel clamps easily to my desk then it should work well for almost everyone else.

I tested each wheel (unless otherwise stated) in NASCAR Racing 2003 Season at Bristol, Texas and Talladega. I race at 1600x1200 with all of the graphic options on.

The Rating System

The overall rating for each wheel is a star rating from one to five. It's based primarily on racing feel but look, convenience, value and my overall impression also affect the final score.

All scores are based solely on my opinion of each wheel tested. I have made every effort to give a fair, unbiased and honest evaluation of each device. I welcome any comments or feedback.
