The France Family

Definition: The first family of NASCAR. Bill France Sr. founded the sport and was it's first president and CEO. Bill Sr. passed the job on to his son Bill France Jr. who reigned as president and guiding force of the sport until the end of the 2000 season. The France family still comprises 4 of the 5 seats on NASCAR's board of directors.

The France family's vision and leadership is credited with building NASCAR into the premier sport that it is today.
