The net result? Both drivers are on probation for the rest of the year. In addition, Spencer has to pay a $25,000 fine, has been suspended from NASCAR competition until after Bristol and faces possible criminal assault charges in Michigan.
Welcome To Rivalry
Welcome to the latest chapter of NASCAR's hottest rivalry.
On one side you have a young, talented, rising star. Kurt Busch has a ride with one of the top teams in NASCAR with Roush Racing. Seven Winston Cup wins already top his resume and without a doubt he'll have many more before he's done.
Jimmy Spencer's Winston Cup career is the exact opposite of Kurt's. While Kurt is a rising star with a top team, Jimmy's stock has been falling in NASCAR. After getting cut midseason last year from the Ganassi/Sabates #41 ride that Casey Mears now drives Jimmy for an Ultra Motorsports team that has already lost it's sponsor for 2004. Kurt's quick seven wins already dwarf's Jimmy's grand total of two.
Jimmy Spencer would probably call Kurt Busch arrogant and dangerous. Oddly enough, Kurt would likely use the exact same words to describe Spencer.
