Raybestos Rookie Mid-Season Recap

Biffle and McMurray are dueling for rookie honors.

Raybestos Rookie Battle

As predicted, this year's Raybestos Rookie of the Year battle has been one of the best ever. Greg Biffle and Jamie McMurray are neck-and-neck for the title.

Jamie McMurray lead the points most of the first half of the season but now Greg Biffle's team is starting to hit their stride and he has taken the lead.

Biffle has been so strong lately that even though he has one less start (he failed to qualify for the race in Las Vegas) he leads all rookies with his 20th place Winston Cup points position. Jamie McMurray (23rd) and Casey Mears (34th) have both started all nineteen races this season and are still behind Biffle in the standings.

It has been a tight battle all season and it will likely go right down to the wire. I made my prediction in February before the season started and I'm not going to change my mind now. I'm sticking with Greg Biffle as the 2003 Raybestos Rookie of the Year.
