Can Hendrick Motorports Return To Glory in Phoenix?

Thursday April 10, 2008
2008 Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International RacewayThe 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup series season is seven races old as we head into the 2008 Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway. Hendrick Motorsports drivers have been conspicuously absent from Victory Lane so far in 2008. Hendrick teammates Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson combined to sweep both Phoenix races in 2007. Will Hendrick Motorsports return to their winning ways with this weekend's race?

Because Hendrick so good last year everywhere, it could be that they are laying off a little and letting some of the other teams win a race or two. It just seems that the 24 team could not be so bad this year compared to last year. Driver and crew chief are like a married couple, some days are good ones and some not so good. Maybe Latarte and Knaus should change teams for a race or so.

Hendrick laying off and “letting” other teams win a few races?

What are you smoking.

(8) Kathy says:

I think that Jeff and Jimmie have been told to lay back and let Jr. look good for a while, but you will see them both come on strong soon.

Jeff and Jimmy lay off for a while!!! What are some of you people smoking? This is Nascar. Get real. You don’t “let someone else win”. Have any of you considered that last year the COT had alot to do with Hendricks winning. They were up on their cars and consequently won alot of races. This year I don’t think it’s so much of Hendricks being up, I just think the rest of the field has caught up to Hendricks.

smoke62 what have you been smoking???A driver never lets someone else win.Jimmie and Jewff just have to find whats comfortable for them watchout!!!!

R U GUYS HIGH?!?! No one told anyone to lay off for anyone!!!! To take a car that they had been running only part time last year to full time this year is going to turn even the best teams upside down. R WE FAILING to see that JR is FOURTH IN points and he hasn’t even won a race yet. ITS not all about winning, as long as you consitantly finish in the top ten or top five then you don’t need to win races. Good Lord, hendrick goes seven races without winning and everyone thinks that is because they are laying off for JR or other teams. GET REAL!!!

LOL, I get a kick out of Jr. winning the first 2 races of 2008 in a hendricks car and the stupid announcers discredit it to make a story!!

They can say what they want!!

BOTTOM LINE IS JR. WON EM POINTS OR NO POINTS!!

He who crosses the finish line first wins.PERIOD!!

If they want to discount those races then take em off the tv, out of the line up!!

BOYAH!!

It’s pretty easy win the Bud shootout when you’re driving the only car that isn’t a back up car or was wrecked in practice. Not much of a win there.

In the Duel, half of the field wasn’t in the race. Not as easy, but still easy.

Now, how many races has Jr. won this year that count? ZERO!

(15) Speedy88 says:

All I’M saying is that with Jr and Jimmie in the top twelve, why are people so worried that Hendrick is not on it’s game? What alot of people do not realize is that the COT was only ran half of the season last year. Hendrick may have been dialed into it then, but we are talking a whole season, long term program now. No one is happy with the way the COT runs. And don’t forget guys, this IS ONLY race 7

(16) Smoke62 says:

Whoa people!!! I didn’t say anything about Hendrick motors being on their game. I said it was crazy to think that Hendricks told Jeff and Jimmy to “cool it” until Jr showed what he had.I believe that Hendricks is still a dominant team, but this year everyone else has caught up considerably. Hendricks is still dominent, just not quite as much as they were last year.
