The Nationwide Series season opener at Daytona ended in tragedy today. A number of race fans were transported to the hospital when the expected last-lap melee wiped out almost the entire field, sent Kyle Larson's car spinning up into the fence and showered the fans with debris. The fence returned most of the car to the track but the engine and the right front tire, with the suspension attached, flew into the crowd on the front stretch.
According to Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood fourteen people were transported to the hospital and fourteen additional fans were treated at the track and released. SPEED is reporting that two fans are in critical condition including a minor.
Tony Stewart won the DRIVE4COPD 300 but clearly that is not important when fellow NASCAR fans are suffering.

It’s clearly time to bring down the banking ! Does someone have to Die first ?
If anything add to the banking. Banking had nothing to do with it. All in all fence & retaining wall did what it was supposed to do. Please think before you post.
You’re an Idiot Roger ! If you lower the banking, then there would be no pack racing, and there would be more REAL racing. The racing like at Michigan, Homestead, Chicago Etc.is what would ensue . Daytona is not racing, it’s follow the leader ! Wise Up !!!
It would not be Datona if it was changed to many changes as it is
