This week NASCAR unveiled a new "Fan and Media Engagement Center" which will allow NASCAR to monitor and respond to fan and media commentary in real time. The FMEC is a 500 square foot high-tech room from which a team of four will be able to monitor the broadcasts, social networks and media coverage and respond as needed.
NASCAR is touting this as a one-of-a-kind breakthrough that other sports and other companies will want to copy. NASCAR will have the ability to keep its finger on the pulse of the media and fan feedback and correct misunderstandings.
One thing is certain. Brad Keselowski will not be able to get away with tweeting during the race ever again. Like Big Brother, the FMEC will be watching.
