Paul Menard originally started his NASCAR Sprint Cup career has a road course ringer. His car control skills and the ability to use his head and bring the car back home in one piece caught the attention of someone at Dale Earnhardt Inc. which launched him on his first full Sprint Cup season in 2007.
In the six full seasons since then Menard has driven for Earnhardt, Robert Yates, Richard Petty and now Richard Childress. Although he has just one win and one pole so far he has showed steady progress in the points. In 2009 he was 31st in the final standings and has climbed steadily forward to a career best 16th last year.
Menard will be back in 2013 for the final year of his contract with Childress. Will he continue his steady climb and contend for a spot in the Chase? I think he can.
