Quiet Off-Season So Far

By December 17, 2012

Follow me on:

Last year Kurt Busch added some spice to December when he got himself in trouble with the media and was dismissed by Penske Racing.   In 2010 Daytona International Speedway was hosting special test sessions on the brand new racing surface and the old Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway was battling for its life.   The year before that Danica Patrick and North Wilkesboro Speedway both announced their plans.   The list of big December news stories goes on and on.

However 2012 has been very quiet.   This year NASCAR hosted a test session at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the new sixth-generation race car but even that was relatively uneventful.  Where are the sponsor announcements that typically dot December?   This year has been extremely quiet so far.

Check out NASCAR Online's Cup series news since the banquet.   They're clearly running out of things to say.

Is the NASCAR PR machine gearing up for an avalanche of big stories after the holiday break?  After all the excitement and big news we saw during the season the off-season has been a letdown.
