It has been a long wait but it looks like the weather is going to cooperate and we are going to get the 2012 Daytona 500 in tonight under the lights in Daytona.
Carl Edwards lead the field to the green flag moments ago and we are finally underway in front of a surprisingly large crowd who were able to stay for tonight's race.
Greg Biffle lead lap one before Jimmie Johnson, Danica Patrick and Kurt Busch and others crashed at the beginning of lap two. All are OK in spite of Johnson taking a hard hit. Let's hope they got it out of their system and we will see some green flag racing from here to the end.
