Tie between the SHR performance in their opening year and the complete and utter breakdown of Roush. I think Kyle’s missed chase will be a footnote in his career and not a defining moment. Same with Dale Jr and his lackluster performance.
Also in contention should be NASCAR’s meddling with the game — the double file restarts (good, in most cases) and the dega disaster (the latter one, where they changed the rules about bump drafting).
The Hendrick 1-2-3 is a nice story, but not giant, and Mark Martin’s resurgence is also heartwarming, but my vote’s for the Roush thing. They just completely fell apart.
