In order for Mark Martin to claim the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup title in Homestead he has to make up 108 points in one single race. How likely is that to happen? Someone at NASCAR dug through the stats and figured it out.
Mark Martin and Jimmie Johnson have been in the same Sprint Cup race 266 times. In those 266 races Mark Martin has gained more than 108 points on Jimmie Johnson exactly nine times. This means that 3.38% of the time Mark Martin will win the Championship next weekend in Homestead.
Here are the nine races. One of them was even at Homestead.
- 11/3/2002 - Rockingham
- 6/6/2004 - Dover
- 8/15/2004 - Watkins Glen
- 8/22/2004 - Michigan
- 11/20/2005 - Homestead
- 2/18/2007 - Daytona
- 4/15/2007 - Texas
- 6/10/2007 - Pocono
- 11/8/2009 - Texas

Not going to happen! The script has already been implemented. Happy fourth Jimmie. Rick has made history! Gordon has made a killing off his half
of ownership of Jimmie.
two words:
keep.
dreaming.
=(
it would make my year if he could though
NASCAR =’s WWF
Lets see a driver hits jimmie to take him out in the first 10 laps of the race and you hear no crying, no foul, no media driven bashing, HM!
Next Race he comes back to win in great fashion, NASCAR was hoping to make a tight points race with to little to late!
I have heard the team that hit jimmie was paid 2 million and had there black box will be turned up 2% all next year ,WOW
IF NASCAR has any balls left, lets see em pay another driver again to take Jimmie out and let Mark win this years Championship.
Wont happen as that would cost em to much money and after all thats what the sport has turned to.
The all Might Buck!!
$2 million to wreck JJ? Black box turned up 2% all next year? (whatever that means) Sure thing, dude. Don’t forget how NASCAR “lets” Johnson win all the time. Not that the team has anything to do with it. Pass me some of that kool aide!
Thanks 1,000,000 Bill
My thoughts exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Possible….but not probable. However, as they always say, it ain’t over til the fat lady sings. Everyone can guess and come up with stupid ideas but we’ll know when the checkered flag waves (or maybe some number of laps before!!!).
Mark Mark Mark Mark Mark Mark Mark Mark Mark Mark Martin has “WON” the Championship! Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah!
