Marcos Ambrose Loses Again In Montreal

Sunday August 30, 2009

Usually the headline for a NASCAR race talks about who won.  However, the Nationwide Series' 2009 NAPA Auto Parts 200 was more about who lost.

Marcos Ambrose was under pressure from Carl Edwards as the Montreal race neared the end but Ambrose was perfect and there was no way for Edwards to get by.  Marcos Ambrose clipped the curb on the last turn of the last lap and gave the win to Carl Edwards.

In 2007 Ambrose lead the most laps in Montreal (37) and finished seventh after Robby Gordon lost his temper and blatantly punted him out of the lead. In 2008 he again lead the most laps (27) but a mistake on pit road cost him and he finished third.  Now the 2009 event sees him lead 60 of the 76 laps only to give it away in the closing moments.

Montreal has not been kind to Marcos Ambrose.

Bummer. He did run a classy race, though. It was fun to watch him get around the track. It is painfully obvious that there should be a more experience required before entering this kind of competetion. The not-qualified to run doggone near ruined the race.
Better luck next time.

(The not-qualified to run doggone near ruined) NO They along with NASCAR did take this race away from Marcos With making him restart 3 times with only 8 laps to go!! How many cautions did Steve Wallace cause 3 or was it 4? Like they said on TV yesterday, after two caused yellow flags you should have to park your car!! At least they would have finished the race with three fewer causions!! I thought NASCAR was trying to find ways to save the teams money, look at all the junk race cars after that mess with only 8 laps to go!!!

Oh well just venting & giving my two cents worth.

I thought it was interesting that France didn’t duck the question on using rain tires sometime in the future for the cup races. That would really separate the boys from the men. I thought Edwards drove a great race, look where he qualified. However, I thought that Ambrose should have one the race, I guess Edwards was putting so much pressure on him after the re-starts that he got a little rattled.
