Danica Patrick Could Thrive In NASCAR

Every couple of years when Danica Patrick's IndyCar Series contract comes due the speculation runs wild about her crossing over to NASCAR. This year Danica's contract is up once again. Her current team owner Michael Andretti doesn't think re-signing her will be a problem but still there is speculation that she is talking to some leading NASCAR teams.
I think the media frenzy around Danica would be great for NASCAR and would help to prop up ratings and ticket sales. NASCAR could use a talented, attractive, well-spoken, intelligent woman in the sport.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a female in NASCAR; how soon you all forget NASCAR’s history as you’ve already forgotten Ethel Flock and Janet Guthrie. Undoubtly Mrs. Ethel could race circles around Danica. Besides, we all know NASCAR is shoving Danica down our throats just like they are choking us with diversity. Danica is only merchandise. She is nowhere near the talent of Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. or even want-to-be drivers like Brian Vickers and Paul Menard. If I was a car owner I wouldn’t want her in my stable; heck I don’t even want her on my fantasy team. Now you guys have some fantasies that involve Danica, but that’s for another website.
it doesnt mater wat nascar does to get ppl in it all goes by the econimy and ticket prices.i dont realy care 1 way or the other i have my drivers and thats who im sticking with
Sure she would be good for ratings but would she be good for the sport?..I don’t think so…We already have enough drivers who probably wear panties…Let’s get it back to a Man’s sport.
The ONLY possible way Danica would have a snowball’s chance in Hades of being competitive in NASCAR is for her to do what everyone else who is competitive has done – start in series like ASA, ARCA, move to Nationwide, wouldn’t hurt to drive the Trucks too & don’t even think about driving Sprint Cup until you’ve got @ least 2 full seasons of Nationwide racing under your belt. NOBODY has ever gone straight from IndyCar to NASCAR’s top series & that includes Tony Stewart, Juan Pablo Montoya, Robbie Gordon & Sam Hornish.
Danica has said she’s gotten the advice to start in other series 1st from people like Tony Stewart (who’s shop she recently visited) & she would take that advice. But it’s now about 90% sure that she’s going to re-sign with Michael Andretti & stay on the same team, which is the smartest thing she could do. A move to Ganassi would have been good & she’d not only have good Indy cars there & maybe have a chance to drive one of Chip’s NASCAR Nationwide cars on a trial basis too, but Chip said he wasn’t all that interested since his teams are already set & he’d have to add another for Danica.
And while Indy cars are about finesse driving, not so much physical strength, in NASCAR you’re going to have to fight with an “ill-handling” car for hours, no matter how good your crew is @ making adjustments. Sure, Danica’s in great physical condition, but she’s just too little to fight with a car that weighs over twice as much as an Indy car & has the aerodynamics of a brick.
She’d ruin her “brand” & “image” having to make races on owner points because she couldn’t qualify fast enough, spinning herself out, finishing laps down with a banged up car, etc. Assuming Danica does re-sign with Andretti, I’m sure she’ll continue to improve & with a little bit better equipment, have a realistic chance @ winning @ every race. I like her & hope she does well, but the IRL is where she needs to stay to be competitive.
Bring her in thru Trucks, then Nationwide, try it out for a couple races, then watch her bail !!!
Would this mean Junior would need to start pretending to strip in Go-Daddy ads? Would Go-Daddy support both drivers? Does Danica wear Wrangler Jeans? Has Junior’s driving finally Peaked? Who cares? Andretti Green still wants Patrick and I think a deal will be cut, but if not let Danica race.
Dan isn’t the answer to sagging ratings and ticket sales. If you want to boost both LET EM RACE. Nascar has manipulated the rules and the car to get what they think the public wants. Open up the box surrounding the COT, how bout you have to qualify to race instead of just hanging around in the top 35 in owners points? What about qualifying races to get into Sundays main event? Oh, that’s right NASCA wants to make sure that the big sponsors get their TV time. Wouldn’t it be an embarrassment if some of the top 12 couldn’t qualify and had to ride the pine come Sunday? It hasn’t been racing since NASCAR decided to be the WWF of Motorsports……….
I think Danica needs to stay away from NASCAR. We don’t need another whinier, one who flips a guy off Twice because he wouldn’t move over for her to pass. I don’t think she could handle the cars, it’s a hard long race. Yeah, most guys would love her and her half naked pictures, but is that what NASCAR about or is it more of a Family Sport? Just stay away Danica!
The only thing that Patrick is good for is commercials. It doesn’t matter what series she drives in, the commercials will be the only good thing.
We don’t need Patrick in the sport to make Kyle any more of a dick than he already is.

Stupid question: Is this column about Danica Patrick, or Kyle Bush? Stupid me every column on any subject gets back to Kyle Bush somehow. Which leads me to believe without Kyle Bush NASCAR is just plain boring. Come to think of it NASCAR is plain boring. Perhaps a battle between Bad “A” Kyle and Bad Girl Danica wouldn’t be bad at all. It sure would be better than watching goodie two shoes Johnson.

Danica would not make it in NASCAR. The cars are 3X as heavy, and lack the braking force and handling point and shoot style of NASCAR. She is not a brute force driver, and is the wrong body build to be effective in NASCAR. Plus, she is a whiner when people bang her (no sexual reference here) and NASCAR is still a contact driven sport. She whines all the time, and it is never her fault. I am not sure the other drivers would tolerate that too long, and they would put her in the wall like Kyle Busch.
She is better than some of the men in Nascar now. Let her race!!
Kyle Busch and Danica Patrick on the same team. They would’nt need a race to take each other out. Sounds like something Humpy would do.

It would help if she won a couple races. Yea, she won that race in Japan but nothing since and no one saw that race. If she won the Indianapolis 500, she would be gone the next week.

I tend to agree with most people about this. While, im a woman, i just dont think that the Sprint Cup is the place for a female. Dont get me wrong, this gal has a lot of talent, but to jump into a Sprint Cup car would be a huge mistake. Let her try her hand in the Nation Wide Series and see how she can hold up! I’ll still buy my tickets reguardless!
Danica needs to get a real “women” job. Leave NASCAR to the men. NASCAR has always been a “man’s” sport. Go away Danica….NASCAR doesn’t need you… there are already too many drivers as it is.

I think Danica would be good for the seies. She is a very talented driver,and i believe she would adapt well to the style of cars in nascar. I have been a nascar fan for 25yrs and there has never been a woman who could intrest me in her career like Danica has. She is very talented and smart when it comes to how the car needs adjusted to run faster. I would welcome her with open arms into the sport if it was up to me.

I don’t see what the big deal is about Danica. She’s not all that good looking and I think Sarah Fisher could be a better driver if she got the same opportunities. I wouldn’t mind having females in NASCAR, but she would be too much competition for the whine babies, i.e., Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon.

Your darn right let her drive in nascar,you know that there are a lot of current drivers who have been around for a long time,and they are way back in the standings,and have not been improveing for years now,so bring on the stockings.
I don’t think she really wants to “work” that hard and the IRL season is so short and think she is happy with a few races. Can’t see her holding up for an entire NASCAR season.
Look at Sam Hornish leaving IRL and still hasn’t done that great with NASCAR and see the same thing happening to Danica.
