Mayfield Cleared To Race In Daytona

New news today in the Jeremy Mayfield drug test saga. A federal judge stated that the likelihood of a false positive is "quite substantial" and has issued a temporary injunction. This makes Mayfield eligible to race this weekend in Daytona.
Mayfield tested positive for methamphetamines on May 1st and was suspended indefinitely from NASCAR on May 9th. Mayfield claims the test is in error and NASCAR, naturally, believes it is not.
I don't know a great deal about drug testing. Is it really likely that this is a false positive? What do you think? Did Jeremy get caught using meth or do you think NASCAR made a mistake?

as a healthcare provider I believe drug test can be wrong. I have been a long time fan of Mayfield and dont believe he would jepordizes himself this way. a lot of OTC meds can show up as something else especially if there is a mixture. READ THE LABELS GUYS
i don’t do any drugs myself but on the bubba the love sponge show bubba himself took what i beleave the same test after doing the same meds. that j. mayfield did and bubba results were positive also so mabe this testing should be look at in a diferent way
I agree with CeJae in what he says. I have my thoughts that Jeremy would do that and loose all he put in to Nascar for his car.

I say give him another chance,people do make mistakes but after all that has happen I would think Mr. Mayfield has learned his lesson if he did do something wrong.
I don’t believe Mayfield would use drugs like that. He is too classy of a guy to lower himself to meth. Not to mention how stupid it would be, knowing that they random test. If anyone is on drugs it’s NASCAR. They are so quick to jump on someone without research. If you eat a bagel with poppy seeds it shows up as heroin.So I guess Clartin shows up as meth. Is that why Carl Edwards is so fast?
You can test positive if you have taken Motrin and Advil. Imagine losing your job for taking an aspirin substitute. I say if a guy fails test A, consult with him about his meds. Give him a list of legal items that can test positive. Tell him to stay away from these items if at all possible. Schedule test B for a week after test A. His system should clean itself out. Illegal substances can take months before they clean out.
Have followed Jeremy’s career for over a decade now-Started out sweeping Nascar garages so I doubt that he would jeopardize a limited ride. Anyone remember Hornaday’s run-in with NasCar’s drug testing policy?NasCar,team owners and sponsers have become so ridiculous in what they ask of these drivers it surprises me that any of them can fulfill all of their obligations without some form of pick-me-up. Just watching the races since the intro of the COT and the constant tedium of Nascar regulations such as points deductions for wordy-durds makes me want to do something to counter the snore factor!
