Car and Driver Fools NASCAR Fans

Follow me on:

It seems the folks over at Car and Driver played a little April Fools gag on its readers. They said that the U.S. government announced that GM and Dodge would be forced to pull out of NASCAR in order to receive bailout money.

Even though the piece was clearly marked as a joke it seems that some people were fooled. Car and Driver was forced to take the piece down and apologize on their website.

Really? They had to apologize for a harmless April Fools gag? Come on folks, you have to admit that it's a little funny.

I heard it on the radio in a snippet while changing channels. In the brief listen, it had no context. I’m guessing that the outrage played out on mostly second-hand or deeper reports where the ‘joke’ part got lost in the translation.

It could be true. Some people now days believe anything they read while others don’t believe anything they read. The news media is just as bad as the government, you can’t believe anything they say. Crime and corruption is the only thing that this country gets involved with anymore. Money and power is what it is all about.

Many of these car magazines & CONSUMERS REPORTS are influenced by the Europeans & Japanese–that’s why gullible people are not buying the “big three” like they used to–they’d rather throw hard-earned money overseas.
