Edwards Stretches Fuel for 2008 Texas Chase Victory
Sunday November 2, 2008
Carl Edwards had the rare combination of the fastest car and the best strategy during today's 2008 Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. Edwards dominated the middle portion of the race and lead over 200 laps. However Edwards won this race based on pit strategy and fuel mileage and not his raw speed and handling.
Edwards stretched his final fuel run and made it to the checkers when all of the drivers in front of him needed to pit for a splash of fuel at the finish. Carl Edwards and his Roush-Fenway Racing team had the rest of the pack covered on all fronts today.

It’s 9:33 AM PST on voting day November 4 and nobody wants to comment on Carl’s victory Sunday. Congradulations and GO JIMMIE GO
Congratulations Carl and Jack. Those final laps had me on the edge of my seat. An old fan
I too, was on the egde of my seat waiting to see if Cousin Carl could pull it off and was thrilled when he did. Would have been interesting to know exactly how much fuel was left in the tank after he won. Notice he didn’t do any cookies once he took the race.
Carl chould have done a burn-out after the race just to see how much fuel he really did
have left in his tank.He could have always got
push to victory circle.
