Montoya Disqualified From Kansas Pole

Friday September 26, 2008
When qualifying ended today at Kansas Speedway Juan Pablo Montoya had posted the fastest time and looked to have the first pole of his career. However post qualifying inspection showed that his rear shocks had more gas in them than NASCAR allows.

Montoya's time was disallowed so Jimmie Johnson will start from the pole position when this race goes green on Sunday. Montoya will start the race from the 42nd spot on Sunday.

NASCAR is considering further penalties which are typically announced after the race on Tuesday.

It was more then just a little over pressure too! Another clear cut case of Pressure to get your Sponser a Plug!If your not a Lame duck Chaser you have to Cheat to get air time!
I’m not sure but I have heard the penalty to come could be so severe they wont let him race for the Championship OMG!
Wouldn’t that suck to just have to just drive around as a field filler for the last ten races of the season!
Way to go Montoya for getting that sponser Plug!

Oh no, don’t worry, “The greatest Formula One Champion To Ever Draw a Breath, Juan Paul Montoya” (Gee that’s a long name)won’t be a field filler for the rest of the chase, that’s what he’s been during his entire NASCAR career.

Of all the open wheel superstars that were to take over NASCAR and draw billions from Europe, Montoya and Hornish are probably the best.

Maybe I’m just prejudice, I saw Hornish win the championship in 2002 I think. One of the best races I’ve ever seen anywhere.

I don’t care much about Montoya one way or the other, but NASCAR no longer allows any creative thinking at all. Talk about killing off American ingenuity. Why doesn’t NASCAR just buy all the cars from the Chinese and stick a driver in them. This cookie cutter garbage has just about ruined the sport for me and I have been a fan since 1955. Thank God for Chad Knaus and the other crew chiefs like him.

(4) Lloyd says:

I haven’t been a fan as long as you Bob. Only the early 60’s, but I agree in concept that NASCAR has killed off the competiveness of the sport. They’re so intent on keeping the COT’s equal that they have elminated them as a factor in the race. Toyota was within NASCAR’s rules for engines, but stll more powerful than the U.S. car makers. So NASCAR required Toyota Racing to tone the power down for the good of the sport. That has still not stop Toyota’s overall dominance. We are left we only two uncontrolled factors: the drivers and the the strategy of the crew chiefs like Chad to make a race interesting. Therefore NASCAR looks for alternatives. To increase their Hispanic fan base they imported Montoya. No hit on Juan, but just good business sense. Just like spliting the season between the networks. In otherwords Bob NASCAR is not out for good old American ingenuity, but good old American greenbacks.

I agree with Bob and Lloyd.
It is not about racing anymore, it’s about the almighty dollar. Sponsor this Sponsor that, whatever brings in more cash for each event, and heck, in the past few years one of the ways a guy must qualify to be a Nascar Driver was, you had to have an a face that was “Easy on the Camera” and driving was 2nd. Sponsors want a decent looking guy to sell their stuff. Here is a good question.
“Did Nascar ask Honda to join also?”
Yeah the Montoya issue, it was Lame to Race in Mexico in the first place, and of course you knew who was going to win the very first Mexican Race??
Gee is Nascar Rigged? Duh.. It has been…Many races are pre-determined. What ever sponsor they want to make the happiest that week, and or who has paid the for the most extended overall exposure time.
The Sad Outcomes, the fake Debris on the track, the mysterious bad set of tires. Oh it goes on and on. Just glad that Lil’ Bush is not going to be the winner.

Montoya just got caught.
Most of these guys like Johnson and Biffle cheat to win . If you are not cheating a little you are not going to win. Oh maybe its a little thing like to much gas in the shocks but if you want to win you find a little something that you hope does’t get caught.
Its a shame nascar won’t let the teams use thier brains to find ways to go faster instead of trying to make every care the same like go carts at a rental track where they are all set to the same speed. Nascar wants all the cars to have the same horse power and the same set up. What’s next wide word of racing like the wrestling federation with pre picked results.

I’d be lying if I said I was sorry that Montoya got caught. I’m glad he’s having to start at the back of the pack. I “might” have learned to like him if he hadn’t been so cocky last year when he was “Rookie of the Year” and got away with all kinds of crap. Wrigley’s needs to think about who they are sponsoring.

Juan Pablo doesn’t belong in NASCAR, either series. He should go away, he sucks at stock car driving. I hate him.

for the first 8 complete morons that posted here READ:
Robin Pemberton, NASCAR’s vice president of competition, said Sunday that Chip Ganassi Racing and Brian Pattie, crew chief for the No. 42 Dodge, are not likely to be hit with any further penalties for the technical violation.

If there were no further penalties, doesn’t that mean the crime wasn’t that bad? Thats the way I saw it.
