Next Up: Night Race In Bristol!

Thursday August 21, 2008
2008 Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor SpeedwayThis Saturday night the NASCAR Sprint Cup stars will take to the tight confines of Bristol Motor Speedway under the lights for the 2008 Sharpie 500.

This summer classic is one of the biggest nights on the NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule. With the Chase looming in just three more races the battle to get into the top twelve in points is heating up. Add in the uncertainty of NASCAR short-track racing and this Saturday night could help shape the face of the 2008 Chase.

What’s up with the Nascar officials who watch over the races? They continuously allow Tony Stewart to push, shove, and bump the other drivers into wrecking. Has no one noticed how he runs up behind other drivers, just nudges them enough to spin them out and then he proceeds on around the track to take their spot? If it’s always so “accidental”, then how come Stewart always seems to have anticipated beforehand which way the bumped car will spin so that he can get around it virtually unscathed? Stewart is and has always been too agressive with the bumping, and has wrecked untold numbers of drivers with this attitude. Yet, Nascar sits back and seems to cheer him on. Why is he not fined and points taken from him for this behavior, or just suspend him for a while and take him off the track? Fines and lost points mean nothing to him, but maybe not being able to race would. Wake up Nascar and do the right thing. Stewart thinks he’s invincible and that he can pay off a few fines for things, then just go out there and continue to do underhanded stuff, as long as he says, “oh I didn’t mean it, it was accidental”. “Accidentally” take him off the track, before or during, his attitude fits. I’m a true race fan who is fed up with the Stewart attitude.
