NASCAR Makes History in Montreal

Saturday August 2, 2008
Rain interrupted today's Nationwide Series race in Montreal after just 8 laps. NASCAR threw a caution and allowed the drivers to pit for rain tires and install windshield wipers. NASCAR then returned to competition on a wet race track for the first time ever.

Goodyear has been bringing rain tires to NASCAR road course races for years. The drivers have practiced in the wet but never before has NASCAR competed on rain tires. This is an exciting day for race fans as rain tires increase the chances that they will get to enjoy the race that they paid for regardless of the weather.

ITS ABOUT TIME AIN TIRES WERE USED.

But if their gonna use rain tires, they need to do it right. What I mean is that the change to wet tires/setup should be made at the teams descretion, not NASCAR’s. THat nearly ruined the race for me when NASCAR brought them all in at the same time, stopping the race.

The drivers did a great job running in the rain. I was surprised by the few amount of weather related accidents. I find it funny that the driver with the most experience in the rain, Jauques Villeneuve ended up crashing into someone because he couldnt see.
