Chicagoland Speedway Goes Under the Lights

Thursday July 10, 2008
2008 LifeLock.com 400 at Chicagoland SpeedwayDuring the off-season Chicagoland Speedway added lights to its 1.5 mile oval so the 2008 LifeLock.com 400 moves to a Saturday night show. Chicagoland isn't known for its great racing or fantastic finishes. Maybe the cooler night time temperatures will help. Chicagoland could use some great racing to overcome its "cookie cutter" image.

Most of the media attention this week will be on Tony Stewart. On Wednesday Stewart announced that he will be leaving Joe Gibbs Racing at the end of 2008 to become an owner-driver. Will Tony Stewart be able to repeat his 2007 Chicagoland victory amid the media frenzy?

My bet this weekend would be on Tony. Now that all the pressure is off his shoulders, he can concentrate more on racing. Watch out Chicago!!

If Chicago under the lights is twice as exciting as it was in daylight last year… er, I’ll be watching something else.

Smoke is making the right move to enhance his outstanding racing career. Since “JGR” hired dirty drive Kyle, Tony has not been getting the best equipment,it’s very obvious to us motorheads that have followed the sport for years. Thank God Home Depot is going with Tony, too bad Zippy isn’t going with him as well. It’s obvious, that cocky, Joey Logano is in line for the 20 ride, everyone is making a big thing out this young spoiled brat who’s family spent big money to get him where he’s at in the sport, although his is a better than average driver for his age, how could he not do well in the equipment he has been given. Unfortunately, many families are unable to finacially support their children like so many do and unfortunately, great young drives are unable to secure rides.Good Luck, Smoke.

The IRL puts on great races at Chicago. Maybe NASCAR needs to figure out a way to compete.
