A.J. Allmendinger Wins 2008 NASCAR Sprint Showdown

Saturday May 17, 2008
Pit strategy played a big role in determining who would race their way into tonight's All-Star race. Brian Vickers dominated the first twenty-lap segment but pitted for four fresh tires during the halfway caution. A.J. Allmendinger and Sam Hornish Jr. stayed out and were able to race their way into the 2008 NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race.

Kasey Kahne won the fan vote and claimed the 24th and final starting spot. The main event is up next on SPEED.
