Happy 60th Birthday NASCAR!

NASCAR was officially incorporated sixty years ago today on February 21st, 1948. In December of 1947 Bill France Sr. gathered together a group of race promoters, officials and drivers in the Streamline Hotel in Daytona Beach, Florida to discuss the idea. Then, just two months later, he filed the paperwork and made it official.
NASCAR's first officially sanctioned event was six days earlier on February 15th, 1948. Red Byron won that first race on the combination beach/road course in Daytona.
What would the participants in that very first race think if they could see what NASCAR has become today?

60 years. WOW. I had no idea really. I knew it was awhile though. You do know that NASCARs ratings are plummeting.
Im thinking that most 60yr olds are thinking of retirement. Maybe NASCAR has the same thought in mind.

60 years and counting I hope. The state of Nascar right now seems to put its future in question. Now with Sprint unsure of sponsorship….., lets just hope!
I visited the Streamline Hotel in October, what a place. Hard to believe this is where the whole organization started.

Hey its not about NASS CAR its about the fan`s and the drivers an raceing/yea-yea MONEY rules and greed begotes more greed/ its goen to be around a long time and ya can get bent if ya need to/ ya can choose to turn-the-channel/ but they only just think nothen of your view infact i wounder if a poll was answered on yes or no/ ya goen too stop watchen cup car racin ? they would have to admitt/ NO I`M NOT !
