NASCAR announced on Wednesday that Nationwide Insurance will replace Anheuser-Busch as the title sponsor of NASCAR's #2 touring series for at least the next seven years.
Anheuser-Busch announced in December of 2006 that they would be pulling out after the 2007 season. This announcement left the future of the series in doubt as NASCAR was rumored to be struggling to find a new title sponsor.
The Nationwide Series will take some getting used to after so many years of calling it the Busch Series but I am happy to know that the series will be alive and well for years to come. This is good news for NASCAR and its fans.

Well it is a NATIONWIDE sport so the title will fit. It will take some getting use to and I will most likely call it the Busch series for a while but then again how long does it take us to write the new year on our checks? At least 4 to 5 checks before we get it right?
I’m very happy to see the “Busch” series is getting a new sponsor. It’ll take some getting used to, but as a truck driver for a “Miler” distributor I’m glad it’s an insurance company.
who cares. as soon as helton and his band of idiots are through screwing up nascar nextel cup, and trust me, it won’t take long, they will start on the bush series. i’m glad i made the decision to abandon the sport. not the drivers, just the sport
Yippie, now NASCAR will battle other insurance companies over this series. Just as they battled AT and T in the NEXTEL. Progress.
Hey Y’all,
Just pick a driver and enjoy watching or attending the races. Ignor all the sponsors and ads. Y’all have a good day now y’hear.
Well lets see now, NEXTEL CUP is now SPRINT CUP, Coors is now the official beer product of NASCAR, BUSCH is now Nationwide, Pepsi is now COKE at the tracks but yet they still have’nt come up with a perminant name for the COT car? Whats up with that?
Permanent name for the COT, hmmmmm, how about BHM.
Bone Headed Mistake.
It is very troubling to me that no one is making an issue of a trend that extremely troubles me. This is the trend of insurance companies using their profits for not for the good of their policy holders and society, but to get naming rights. Currently in the news is that Nationwide Insurance gave grants to the former Columbus (OH) Children’s Hospital and having the hospital renamed, no surprise, Nationwide Children’s Hospital. This same insurance company has signed an agreement with NASCAR for naming rights to the current Busch racing series.
It is apparent to me that states are abdicating their right to oversee and regulate insurance companies. Insurance companies should be using their cash reserves to: increase coverage without increasing premiums, pay claims, and contribute to endeavors that will mitigate the risks that policy holders are facing – better health and safegarding insurable assets.
BuckeyeVic, So what you think they should do with their profits? Let me see we should tell you what to do with your money after you pay your bills.
If you know anything about business these companies spend money like this to make money. They don’t spend $100 to bring in $75. They spend $100 and they bring $100 PLUS.
I get sick and tired when I read things like this or when someone wins the LOTTO people start saying thing like you did, they should give some of it away.
To An Opinion:
You are entitled to yours of course.
But when your house is destroyed and your premiums are paying NASCAR, let me know when the insurance company denies your claim that NASCAR picks up the tab to rebuild your home.
Nations wide on Hendricks siiide!!! their gonna change their slogan ????
Thats all we need,How much money do you need Nascar?
Hey Vito, get real!!! Are you trying to tell us that, if you were happy with the amount of money you were making you would turn down a chance to make more? How stupid do you think we are, Get real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BuckeyeVic, Now tell us the rest of the story why your claim was denied. i don’t pay premiums to nascar nor do you. just like when you buy a car from gm or ford you don’t pay nascar. WELL I guess in a way we do on all but that is what you call advertising $$$$’s.
Lets see we now have the Nationwide Insurance Blood Clot Race Series. I wonder will the drivers have to change insurance carriers?
I can’t believe this. People like “An Opinion” are why we elect crappy officials. Yeah, I get that insurance co.’s should make money, like $100 to “make $100 PLUS” but when an insurance co can afford to sponsor a series, they are just plain robbing people. Get it? I bet you are pissed you can’t vote for Bush again…
as davids girl, i am glad to say that with months of watchin nascar with him and not sure about it in the beginin, i do like it now. it is a fun sport, i am, however, still learning about it.
Now I know why my insurance rates went up this last year! They went up $200 a month for a small business. I for one favor Nascar but I do not favor a company paying millions to have their name associated with it!
