Round Three of the Chase Rolls Into Kansas

Thursday September 27, 2007
2007 LifeLock 400 at Kansas SpeedwayLast year Kansas Speedway hosted a very exciting Chase race. The 2006 event was in doubt right up until the checkered flag fell as winner Tony Stewart coasted across the line completely out of gas. This weekend the 2007 LifeLock 400 gives Kansas Speedway another chance to wow fans and overcome its "cookie cutter" image.

Can Tony Stewart repeat his 2006 win and take over the point lead? Will a non-Chaser break through for an upset victory? My preview and predictions are here. Who do you pick to win this weekend?

I think it will come down to Boyer,Edwards,&Stewart, they like the feel of that hot asphalt sliding around and all. Props to you Mikey for your top 15 finish.SIGN REUTIMMAN,YOU CANT AFFORD TO LOSE HIM,but if you do,Tony Raines needs a ride.

The smart thing to do would be to sign both of those drivers. With a couple of years expierence on a good team these guys could improve alot. I’m not saying they’re bad, by any means, just that the more you drive a car the more you learn about it and the team you drive for.

Quiet forum this week, does anyone think that Edwards will be pissed if he loses the championship by 25 points or less? Will he backflip on top of Bob Osborne? I understand the concept of saving some tricks for the Chase, but you would think that they would spend extra time with their cars, primary and back-up,to be positive that every spring, tensioner, nut, and bolt were within spec….

It could very well be a Jack and Coke win for Clint. Carl loosing by 25 points might actually be possible as NASCAR seems to control positions by creative inspections. Hey, it wouldn’t surprize me to see NASCAR deduct 25 points from a race won by Tony, because Joe Gibbs is switching to Toyota and they found it in their new COT rule book. Should I appear to be down on NASCAR I am. After watching races since the early 60’s I feel the new NASCAR is trying to turn Stock Car racing into Indy Car racing with a differant body style and importing Indy drivers on top of it. I know I’m not going to see the good ole boys, like Junior Johnson, the King, or Dale, Sr, but please put the stock back in Stock Car and let the teams have the ability to modify and compete.

(5) Mick20 says:

Steve, correct me if i’m wrong but doesn’t NASCAR have a full body timplet that is lowered onto te COT before & after the race? The car passes or it doesn’t correct?

As for improting drivers from IRL, where did My Man Tony come from????

Now before y’all jump all over me, remember, I too have voiced my dislike with NASCAR before & I am an Indiana boy & a Tony fan to the bone. But fare is fare!!!

tony drove indy cars if you remember on memorial day weekend he would drive the indy 500 and then fly back and drive nascar that night. he did say he’s going to quit that it was to much. he also drove sprint cars. and he’s from Indiana usa (I’m not though) i guess you can say he was imported from open wheel to nascar imported from INDIANA USA. no visa required ha

How about the “ARCA Winston Cup Series”?

(8) mkb says:

I’m back on the Dover and Hamlin and Stewart topics…Stewart didn’t get in trouble for his actions toward the 15 car because he’s on probation…NA$CAR would have had to hand out more than a slap. They didn’t want to deal with sitting him out for a race or two, etc. Regarding Hamlin, he is an arrogant punk (much like the Busch brothers). Probably only Mark Martin fans will remember Hamlin’s disrespectful trash talk regarding Martin last season…it was much like his attitude toward Kyle. Right then and there I knew he was one of the new style arrogent drivers…not one we ‘old timers’ would embrace
Now his true colors are showing. On still another topic, Gibbs to Toyota???????????? Dollars talk!!! And, how about all these open wheel guy walking into NA$CAR without working their way up through the ranks????????

Nascar has already picked the campionship winner , It looks like jack would just quit after awill. They did it to Mark and now its Carl .You do remember when they took 25 pionts from Mark to let Tony win.

(10) Lloyd says:

Dr. Pepper, how about the 24 hours of Daytona to go with the ARCA Winston Cup?Mick20, Our man Tony is an all around driver who has raced anything with wheels attached. Although, he probably won’t do the Tour De France. Tony is not what I mean by NASCAR becoming Indy racing. MKB is right about open car drivers going directly to the cup without earning their way. NASCAR is looking to increase their viewership and sponsorship by bringing drivers with an established following directly in. Montoya has increased the Hispanic viewership, but has he really fit the NASCAR mold? Danica Patrick’s name has come up and we could have a Go-Daddy car soon. It’s about cold cash and the word “sport” is only used as an after thought.

(11) BIGBOBSR says:

To say Nascar has already picked a winner for anything is really stupid. Do you really think Hendricks, Gibbs, or any other owner would spend over 10 million dollars a year to fund a car that they knew didn’t have a chance to win? Do you think a sponser would give money to a team when Nascar fixed the races/ Grow up people. If your caught cheating, you get fined. If your car is not right Nascar says your cheating. It’s that simple. As far as Mark Martin goes, he’s been around long time without winning a championship. Do you blame all those years on Nascar?

September 29, 2007 at 3:35 pm
(12) you think? says:

I think nascar should fined every driver/team everyweek if they deserve it or not. Thats what they do now anyway.

It will be interesting to see what NASCAR will do regarding Tony’s cursing on camera. Double probation???? LOL

(14) WALTRIP 55 says:

Tony should not get any detrimental treatement for dropping the f-bomb,it was a candid moment that was off-camera,he didnt know the long range microphones were on,he wasnt addressing the media.Dont know what has crawled up Denny Hamlins ass the past several months,I hope that he sucks for the rest of the season.

(15) Mick20 says:

Lloyd, your wright! I was just trying to get some GOOD debates going & get away from all this stupid talk aboyut NASCAR fixing the races. Really Stupid!

Waltrip 55 You are also wright. NASCAR doesn’t & shouldn’t have any control over what a driver says when they don’t realize their are being spied on with a live mic!!!!!

And yes rules are rules which are in black & white, if you get cought shut up & pay the pipper!!!

(16) WALTRIP 55 says:

Good mornin you all, heres hoping that the cup race is as good as the Busch race yesterday,Lloyd, your comments are spot on,Mick20,the thought occurs to me that since ESPN is all childish and stupid about Stewarts well-deserved criticism of their lukewarm race coverage, they might have been trying to set him up….CONSPIRACY
