Kurt Busch Wins Long-Delayed 3M Performance 400

Tuesday August 21, 2007
It took almost 48 hours to get the race in but Michigan International Speedway finally saw its full 400 miles today. Congratulations to the fans who suffered through two days of rain and got to see the full event today.

Kurt Busch won an uneventful race which left fans time to consider NASCAR's rain policy. Personally I like the idea of running it the first possible opportunity but I feel bad for the thousands of fans that were unable to stay to see the race. Is a Tuesday race fair to the fans?

Yea But I still hope he don’t get another champ.

I watched the race before I left for work. Wish I had gone on to work. I am not a fan of the Busch brothers. I would have like to see Jr. win this race or Jimmy Johnson. They both need the win.

Here we go again “another race another spin” go Montoya. Has he been in any race this year without a problem brought on by him??

(5) Steve6*11 says:

Thank You nascar, You gother done. Well I’m not a fan of Kurt Busch however he did have the best car, Give credit where credit is due. Congrads to him. Now we no Montoya is a rookie so give him a break it takes more then a year or two on the Nascar Circuit to learn the ropes, He’s trying hard and in time he will make it. My driver #24 would say it like that, And so do I. Hang in there Jr. Your Day will COME….

HOWDY ALL.. Just wondering “WHAT TIME DID THEY ACTUALLY RACE ON TUESDAY?” Im not kidding one bit. I checked NASCAR.COM when I woke up Tuesday (Listen up I work 2nd shift) so I get up around 11:30am CST. They already had the results posted. I was shocked to see the winner was Kurt and Truex was 2nd. before noon. I guess I can understand them starting about 7am in an effort to get all the races in before it rains again. CONGRATS BIG BUSCH. GO KASEY grab BRISTOL by the HORNS

9fan- I’m glad someelse had that problem other than me. I seen on the net of the time it was suppose to start then when I turn the tv on they were already racing. They had quick yellows and all. I guess nascar was afraid of giving money back so they did everything they could to get the race in. The yellows was so short they gave the green flag during commercials. Then again commercials were every 5 minutes anyway nothing change there.

(8) Tlabonte Fan says:

Not sure why some of you had problems. NASCAR.com made it very clear to me what time and what channel on Monday and then again on Tuesday.
As for coverage, I thought it was pretty good. NASCAR did make quite a few quickie cautions resulting in returning from a commercial just after the restart. I think NASCAR was crossing their fingers that they could get to 100 laps and get that race official. Can you imagine the loss of commercial revenue from the companies that purchased air time for a Sunday afternoon race finally getting aired on Tuesday morning?

If you want to never miss a race I highly recommend a TIVO or DVR system. Set it up to record all day if you have to be out. You’ll never miss a race and can fast forward through those pesky commercials.

(9) Your laughable says:

Dear NASCAR official suck up. I did turn on my TV on according to nascar.com times. The race already was under way unless my power went off and the clocks where off. I have better things to do with my money to go out and buy a tivo or dvr. If I missed the race oh, well. In other words, NASCAR or any other TV program is not that important to me to go out and buy one of those things. Unlike many of you that requires to tape/copy/tivo/dvr or what ever I CAN LIVE WITHOUT TV and TV programs my life does not in involved around them and I can survive by not watching a miss program or a race!!!! Now N.O.S.U. go grab a beer and pay a high price for a ticket so you can watch a race that we all can watch for free anyway, and when the cameras point your way, Raise the beer up like the rest of them do.
Yes nascar was hoping for the race to last a hundred laps, in the short of it, if they can call a race at half way on the be a full race that is more money for them. Why else do nascar start races under a green/yellow? Therefore, the laps count and as long, they get to the half waypoint they are done. Never mind for the fans pay those high prices for a ticket. Less for nascar is more for them. When they call a race at the half waypoint to those fans that paid for the tickets their tickets suddenly doubled in price. $100 for 250 laps compared to $100 shorten halfway point.

Your laughable, Be nice to him.

August 22, 2007 at 1:31 pm
(11) TLabonte Fan says:

Laughable,

I’m sure that NASCAR made it rain causing this entire monetary fiasco. The minute it started raining they all began to dance behind closed doors because, “they had really stuck it to the fans this time!”

Do you see how looney you come across?

August 22, 2007 at 1:33 pm
(12) Smoke62 says:

No problem watching the race here. The race got started right on time and was started under yellow for about three or four laps, then the cars were parked while nascar waited for the fog to lift. After that it was racing as usual. I’d just like to say “thank you Nascar for allowing me to watch the race in it’s entirity before I had to go to work.”

August 22, 2007 at 1:41 pm
(13) Your laughable says:

Dear NASCAR official suck up. Well I seen it went over your head now. Now where did I say nascar made it rain? I do know that nascar wanted to get started so they can at least get to the half way point so they can call it a race. They wanted to get to the halfway point even they would run it under yellow. Nascar don’t have a problem running half a race but i’m sure they would have a problem giving half the money back for half a race? Oh yea I forgot some of you waould gully gee half is almost whole.

Do you see how you come across what ever nascar say or do – you gully gee OK?

August 22, 2007 at 1:55 pm
(14) Your laughable says:

P.S. Dear NASCAR official suck up. I hate to say this because my spelling is not the best at time for that matter who is. But if you going to say things like how I come across try to look it up for the correct spelling. What part of my statement isn’t true? Nascar will do anything to get a race done and their idea of a race is halfway even if they have to race it under a yellow? Correct? They do not give back half the money for half of a race. Name something that I said it wasn’t true, I be happy eat my words. Remember what I said in #13 on what I said about the rain thing you brought up.

(15) Mick20 says:

Well. I didn;t have any trouble getting
the right time or channel. And at least a FORD didn’t win again!!!

Well I must have look at the wrong time zone for the start, whoops.

(17) Leanna says:

Hi everyone. I record every race, then if something comes up I have it. I do have DVR and use it all the time.I am a big fan of Nascar and try to never miss a race. On Nascar.com it was East time, being on the west here.3 hours different.

August 22, 2007 at 4:52 pm
(18) TLabonte Fan says:

laughable,

Mick20 misspelled didn;t.

You gonna let him get away with that?

Actually, the France’s have me on the payroll to spend my time on NASCAR blogs sucking up and refuting the naysayers. This week we are planning on rain, 80 mph winds, and severe lightning. If any fan gets to see this race completely my compensation package takes a severe hit.

(19) Your laughable says:

Dear NASCAR official suck up. Well I was giving a opinion and YOU— being an smart a** like you always have been when others call you on your duh what ever nascar say I will love it type of comments. I enjoy racing however I don’t go blindly into it or anything else for that matter. To each of their own.

August 22, 2007 at 5:03 pm
(20) TLabonte Fan says:

Thanks for the two titles.

NASCAR official suck up or

smart a**

Frankly I like them both.

(21) Your laughable says:

Dear NASCAR official suck up One more thing, I also noticed you never responded to my question that I asked of you of what I had wrote, did I say something that wasn’t true. So by making a wise A** comments you dodge the answer. I guess it is true what some may say, don’t you? What you had said “OR I should have said THE LACK OF WHAT YOU SAID” SPEAKS VOLUMES. Any way have a good day, go have a cold one or what ever you like to drink or eat. Catch you later, next time maybe you can answer questions and give your opinions instead of dodging them.

When does school starts? Too bad these kids has not started already so we can get them off of here. Couple weeks ago was bad enough and now we got to more on here.

August 22, 2007 at 5:36 pm
(25) TLabonte Fan says:

Happy to try and answer.

I’ve been to a ton of races and there are all kinds of dsclaimers on the back of the tickets regarding weather. I’ve been to some rain outs and had to wait untill Monday to watch. If I paid my money and got only 1/2 to 3/4 of what I was expecting I would be upset, sure. But I would not blame NASCAR for the weather, and my common sense of buyer beware, not to mention all of the disclaimers on the ticket I purchased, would leave me upset and S.O.L.

August 22, 2007 at 5:43 pm
(26) Your laughable says:

TLabonte Fan, Ok I can and understand your answer. Like you I have been to lot of races between my dad and my brothers and other family members all raced. Yes those disclaimers are on the back of them, sometime it rains oh well. However I never once blamed nascar for the rain, please show me where I did, if I did I stand corrected then. My problem is as I said before I don’t like nascar run a race under yellow so they can get to the halfway point and call it. If it rains oh well, reschule it the best as they can or forfiet it (sorry for the mispelled word) but don’t expect us to pay $100 for a yellow flag race.

August 22, 2007 at 5:49 pm
(27) TLabonte Fan says:

I understand your point.

28 Nutzabout#9 Go else where if you want to play school teacher. I’m sure you are smart enough to figure out what I was trying to say, I think the other two that it was intended for did.

(32) mick20 says:

I have to agree with 31. Dan.
ESPN & ABC suck!!! bring back FOX!!!!!

August 25, 2007 at 4:12 pm
(33) Bre says:

I was at the Mich race and loved the race, I didnt’ mind sitting in the stands for the fog to clear, then I too could see all round the track. NASCAR incured MORE expenses because of the rain, they had to bring back support people both days, the security, the cleanup & paper products used in the restrooms, ticket& bag checkers.(yes I know there were less but still had them.)the golf cart usage for the fans needs and theirs, The jet dryers alone had to cost a fortune,, Better a half race, than higher ticket prices to regain their losses.
