This weekend Michigan International Speedway hosts the Race to the Chase. Only four races remain until the Chase for the Cup begins and all eyes are on the battle for twelfth in points as Kurt Busch tries to hold off Ryan Newman and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Can Carl Edwards sweep the 2007 Michigan events? Maybe is it time for first-time NEXTEL Cup winner like Clint Bowyer to break through with a big win? Like always, my picks are in the preview. Who do you pick for the win this week?

I am not a #24 fan, but he always tough at the Brooklyn track. My second choice would be #2. Lets go racing!
This track is well suited for the Roush/Fenway Camp. I like Cousin Carl and Kenseth here. Kurt Bush is on a tear and with Bristol coming up next weekend look for him to try and make a statement. Mark Martin always runs well here. Is he racing this weekend?

The man on a tear is Tony Stewart. I see no reason to stop pulling for him now.Could it be a Stewart and Hamlin finish again? Good track to find out.
Cable hook-up can’t come soon enough for me. I hate that all these race’s are on cable TV!
2nd hand smoke or should we say 2nd half smoke he’s on the tipical roll of winning in the last part of the season however Jeff coming off a disapointing 8th place might just take the checker you can’t count out clint or jr if he gets a motor this week look forward to him joining the team next year as we all know almost everyone is capable of winning or they wouldn’t have a ride
Lauren, when you finally get cable you will see what the rest of us see every week. NASCAR only has one race they just imposed it onto another track. Same race different week and track backdrop. Very generic. I will have to say last Sunday race was a good one for a change.

Tlabontefan Don’t forget bush, and Johnson with the looser list, Enough on politics. Never fails when in doubt someone always says don’t like it- don’t watch. For your info Tlabontefan I like to watch a good race, the point is the way it is been going for a long time with an exception here and there, when you see one you seen them all. Eventually by all of you, people that keep saying if you don’t like it don’t watch. Your dream or advice may come true, enough people will stop watching, and viewer ship will drop enough that only a few stations will broadcast it. The last I had read it has already happen on viewers and attendance at most tracks.
Now with the silly new ABC TV show I seen last night NASCAR going to be OVER exposed that will drive another nail in.

IM ROOTING FOR DENNY HAMLIN AT MICHIGAN. HE IS A TOUGH KID AND CAN KEEP UP AND PASS THE BEST OF THEM. GO DENNY.
If Tony has the equipment, nobody will catch him if he gets into clean air. The question is; can he get into clean air. His record on qualifying is miserable.
Also, what is this constant over coverage of the rookie Montoya. According to the media this guy is the awaited savior. ABC’s show the other night was a Montoya lovefest, and I guess next week is going to some more of the same. Give it a rest and let the guy prove himself if he can keep someone from kicking his *ss.
You people are insane, Carl Edwards is gonna win. He has aloways been strong at Michigan (Remember his first NEXTEL Cup start came 3 years ago at Michigan and he finished 10th) If Carl doesnt win its gonna be Stewart or Kenseth
One thing for sure is unless NASCAR penalize everyone and/or Montoya knock everyone out (which either one is possible) someone will win.

My vote is for the best driver. Jeff Gordon. I know with Steve coming back would do a great job on the track.
Kurt Busch will take it if he can stay out front .ie good in the pits and on gas .Im thinking Carl for second and Tony third ..But still would love to see JR win .

I am disapointed there has not been more of a mention about the NASCAR program that aired this past week on ABC. I know this post is about Michigan, but I could not help but to write about something that I seen / heard on that broadcast that completely floored me.
During the opening intro, there was a shot of Bootie Barker on the pit box and he was shouting to the crew down below. VERY clearly in slow motion you could read his lips and hear very clearly the GD word.
Unacceptable.
I can tollerate some of the other profanity that has been in the spotlight lately, but not this.
Why? Two fold…
First, this is the most offensive profanity that can be used.
Second, isn’t this a program that goes thru hours and hours of review and editing by ABC and most likely NASCAR? As controlling as NASCAR is, I am positive NASCAR signed off on this.
Isn’t this double standards? This is much worse than anything Tony, Jr. or Kyle said in the heat of battle.
It is obvious that ABC and NASCAR left that in for ratings purposes.
Unacceptable, period.

Does nascar its self have an site like this that we can speak out at them? Unless I missed it I never seen it on nascar.com. Then again maybe they don’t want it because it be full of displeasures about them. They may have their head stuck in the sand and think nascar is perfect.
I hope montoya lines up right with all the HMS cars and jr and hope 4 the best
Well, while everyone is adding their two cents worth, I might as well do the same.
First, Tony will be in the hunt all day & may come home with the win! But then I am a indiana boy & a Tony fan!
Second, everyone seems to be upset with NASCAR & are very open about it. I will bet that if you ran NASCAR you would do it your way as well & everyone would call you a stupid dumm *ss too. What I am trying to say ie that we are all different & think Different! Woulden’t it be a sorry place to life if we were all the same! Oh, stock car’s should only turn LEFT not left & right!!!!~
Bobby L. will never win unless it’s a fluke. He’s driving the #2 car in the petty stable. He should be #1 in the stable kyle never was a threat in nascar. Unless you are the top dog with good sponsors (petty don’t have good sponsors) bobby l and the rest of the second and third stringers get second and third choices of equipment, maybe the only exception is jimmie, and jeff then again they got very good sponsors. So again not all cars in nascar are equal.
Yea, I watched the ABC show to, I liked the stuff on Mark and the rookie, but it figures lets rub that Montoya guy in our faces. I thought it was a show about NASCAR and all the driver’s. I guess we need to bring in all the illegals into this to. That really turned me off. And yes, if there is any chat rooms about NASCAR let me know.
Lauren, I don’t like montoya myself but why do you say he’s an illegal? Anyway that is the way of the future. It use to be mostly Americans in the Indy but now you be lucky find a American in the race. Now Nascar with Montoya and I just read the RCR, may or want to sign on a driver I believe from Wales.
Heck with it -why don’t y’all go to the race track and have a beer and when the camera’s point your way, raise up your beer and act stupid as always we love to watch the mo*ns when they do it.

I know that he’s not. I guess the reason I said what I did because AMERICA is doing everything possible to push the Mexican in our face. Hell, give em AMERICA! We will trade places and go down there and make that place great, at least we will be all warm.
Hey Lauren .First Montoya is columbian not Mexican ! Im sure he has a work Visa like other athletes in the US. Hes a big deal because he came from F1,you know the sport the whole rest of the world watches .Nascar goes to Mexico because they love racing there,in fact the crowd is one of the biggest of the year . I didn’t think they minded all those white guys down there! Im Mexican and proud that Latins are becoming great race car drivers .In short if you dont like a driver say it its ok ,but skip the race card ..Thanks Leo
Leo Z I agree I also get tired of the race card bit. I wish ALL races wouldn’t use it when they don’t get their way.
I agree 29 & 30. If you don’t like someone, at least have a reason. Don’t sterotype people. Just because one person does something you don’t like doesn’t mean all that nationality is like that.
So true #30,31 .Racing is a feeling ,a need,a passion,Its for everyone ! I think thats why we come to this site .My friends aren’t racing nuts like me ,so i like to hear what other fans have to say .
So, back to the predictions. While I think you’re right that Kenseth and Edwards both stand a really good chance (so does Stewart in my opinion), I would absolutely love to see some fresh blood (pardon the expression) and have Clint Bowyer break through, like you said, and surprise us all with a big win!
