Tony Stewart Wins Brickyard 400 Then Curses
When it was all said and done the most interesting part of this race may not yet have played out. In his post-race interview Tony Stewart cursed. This is interesting because in 2004 Dale Earnhardt Jr. was fined and had points taken away for a similar slip of the tongue. Will Tony Stewart face the same fate?
UPDATE: NASCAR announced today (Tuesday) that Tony Stewart has been fined $25,000 and docked 25 driver and car owner points.

Comments
Slip of the tounge? I think not. Tony said what he meant to say.
I think it is a very dangerous practice to climb the fence the way he does and today was completely wrong. What if the fence had a weak spot and gave way with so many men on it. Would have been a terrible sight.
Why is it that when a driver lets a “no no” word slip they get into big trouble BUT when we are treated to the ads we see everything from underdressed big breasted women wearing shorts that barely cover the intended area, OR we are blasted with ads designed to make us want to run out and drink? Now these ads pay the way of course for the sponsors of these cars but why don’t THEY clean up their act? Let’e penalize the sponsors for all the ridiculous ads that are aimed at us? One that comes to mind is those ditzy women fantasizing about Kasey Kahne? How lame are those ads? And so tacky too, yet they are overtly using sex to sell a driver and his tires or whatever.
Do you call what Tony said about the “stuff” (bs) that his fans have to endure in the stands, cursing? Just common everyday language.
What Tony said may have been off color and not politically correct but could hardly be called “cursing” Tell it likr it is Tony!
Who cares if Tony climbs the fence? He won the big race!!! And about the BS.. NASCAR should be fined for opening pit road when Jr. was comming into the pits…THAT WAS BS,.
I had been hoping that Tony had changed and finally gotten some class. Though what he said was hardly cursing, it was disrespectful. He had just won the race yet he seemed to be full of attitude. Thought he was getting some class, finally. Guess not.
Come on let’s be fair, if one driver gets punished for it so should all the rest. What does tony rise ubove the rest? I think not!!
If one driver gets fined and points taken off for cursing, then every driver should be treated the same way. last time I knew tony Stewart wasn’t ” GOD”. this is a family program and he needs to clean up his mouth along with everybody else!
Hey, Let Tony be Tony like the the only the that havre the balls to says what comes to mine. Cool it NASCAR, stop trying to makr and continue for the drivers to be robots !!! (like Jimmy Crickete, etc …
That kind of language has its place but why would you make a statement like that after winning one of the biggest races of the season .Silly if you ask me ! I like Tony but he’s got to cool it when he’s on TV .I would like to say I was more concerned about those little kids riding with him in that convertible then his comments !
Everyone has a slip of the tong now and then. Why is it that everyone is compared to Jeff or Jimmy in Nascar being the perfect drivers. Who knows what is said behind closed doors.
Ditto to Sassy! If Dale gets fined lets fine “smoke”. Personnely I could care less but if it’s good for the goose ……….
Tony likes controversy.I didn’t hear the BS comment, but if Dale was fined, Tony should be fined. Tony was being Tony, like him or not.
Jr “swore” on Network television,ESPN is not A network station, big difference
and a dozen guys climbing a fence thats made to stop a 3000k lbs.car from killing fans wont fall down gordonfan.
Tony is a jerk…always has been….always will be !
Yeah Tony should be fined as well as have a few points taken away. What’s fair is fair.
What’s not fair is that he dumped another driver, leaving him with poor handling and a seven spot finish. Heck had it been Tony of the receiving end of that dump, he’d be picking a fit like a little kid!
I say NASCAR needs to keep it clean. We all see whats happening in other sports. NASCAR has done an outstanding job in keeping racing a sport all can be proud of and one for all ages to enjoy! Way to go NASCAR.
He’s right… his fans DO take a lot of BS from everyone!!! THANK YOU TONY! I’ll be focusing the win this week while the others are focusing on whether or not there’s a fine… and then they’ll be whining about whether or not it’s fair.
“(Passion) is the reason the fans pull for us. There’s 43 guys that race every weekend. People pull for some, boo for others. There’s a reason that each person pulls and boos for whichever ones they pull for and boo for. My fans like us because we call a spade a spade. We wear our emotions on our shoulders. Never have to wonder where you stand with us. We’re not going to give the vanilla answer. We are going to be us. The people that appreciate that are Tony Stewart fans. The people that want the corporate image — clean cut, short hair, no beard — they pull for someone else.
“It is that way. That’s the beautiful thing about America. You have the right to choose who you want. Today, I don’t think we were lacking too many people up there (in the stands). I was pretty happy with the number of people that supported us.”
Comments from Tony Stewart AFTER WINNING THE ALLSTATE 400!
I WAS THERE!!!!! Way to go SMOKE!!! He definetely had the car to beat today.(YESTERDAY) It was another fine race if you was there. Again TV probably made it look boring, but to see all the passing and action in the middle was great. It was heartbreaking to see KASEY go out like that, but thats RACING.
It was surprising to me to hear all the cheers when JR blew up. And all the applause and cheers when Jimmie went out. I thought a race town like INDY would be less explicit than that, but the city itself has some of the nicest, classiest people Ive ever come across.
Hey SMOKE62 Congrats to you on smokes win.
TONYa20 I do agree Tonys fans do take the heat, but after finally seeing one live I find that ALL drivers fans take alot of BS so TONY isnt alone. Actually today (I realize INDIANA is Tonys home state)Tony is really the only driver that got any BIG cheers at all.
And of course I guess TV didnt listen to TONY telling Harvick “here kitty, kitty come get some of this” during those final 10 laps.
I did think that was funny in a joking way, however it would have been funnier had Tony ended up losing to Harvick in the end.
I do think Tony is (possibly) the best talent out there (along with Gordon) but silly and (maybe) thoughtless comments like those will cost him someday, and it wont be funny then.
Sorry if I offended anyone there, but seriously there is a fine line between jokes and plain being cocky. Snide remarks will always come back to you, I just dont want those remarks to harm TONY. Tony really is an asset to NASCAR and we need him as a driver (He is just DA## good.) Congrats SMOKE
Well, trying to speak from an impartial stance since I am not a Stewart fan but do admire his talent, I think it was a bit inappropriate with the language on television, but not the end of the world. I would rather have him drop a few choice words than have a wardrobe malfunction! Plus, it seems like a trend in our society when our men are not suppose to be men anymore and any boy or man who has a little edge is instantly sent off to take Ridalin or something. Showing a little emotion, especially genuine emotion is ultimately good for things. I wish I would see someone get a little pissed in one of our presidential debates and actually say it like they feel it, I’d vote for the SOB.
Things sometimes just slip out, Thats the real world. Don’t ever take away from that. People expect Tony to climb the fence after a Win ! And look forward to it. It’s is trade mark so leave it alone. Congrads on a well driven race. Sorry Jeff (24) did’nt Win but will take 3rd.
Well the fire works were seen in Columbus Indiana yesterday. ESPN did a terrable broadcast job in my viewing of the race and interviews. Remember how McMurray was done and the speaker make a smart comment and Jamie started to answer then waved his hand and walked off upset? They(ESPN) may have the elite possiblities in Basketball, baseball, and soccer, but they do not have it for NASCAR at all. Thankfully ESPN only has 7 races to do this year, but after yesterday, thats 6 more too many.
nascar is goeing south on this, these guys are not in church? men will have fun as they should.it is a race and should be celebrated the way one wishess,if you don’t like the heat turn off the tv crybabies.
his ass better i hope he dose cause Jr had to
TONY JUST NEEDS TO GROW UP…AND YES HE NEED TO GET PIONTS TAKEN OFF OR SOMETHING CAUSE IF IT WAS ANYONE ELSE IT WOULD HAPPEN……
I’m a Jr fan, but Tony is a hell of a racecar driver, and you know he had to be pumped up after the WIN. So he let it slip. Big deal. Get a life. Or in other words, “Suit Up or Shut Up”. And as far as what Gordonfan said about them climbing the wall being dangerous maybe
SHE should take up something esle, like
ballet.
Since when did Tony become NASCAR’s most popular driver? Also what he said was not a curse nor was it an obscenity what it was was foul language as you said in your header. And probaly 90% of the 10 year olds in the U.S. say it on a daily basis but of course NASCAR has to pretend that they might damage them for life if they hear it on TV.
NASCAR needs to be consistant with the fines. If they fined Jr. for sayin BS, then Tony needs the same deal. No arguments about the heat of the battle, exhausted from the race…just be consistant and fine him. His language did not offend most of us, but the word here is “consistancy”, Nascar.
Do not get me wrong, I truely respect Tony as a driver. He is one of the best driving today, but he is ready to implode and someone needs to ramp up his “anger management” classes. He made an uncalled for remark when the comentator mentioned him not climbing to the top. Tony responded with “You commentators always critizes, why don’t you try it?” Come on Tony, take the high road and blow it off. It only shows the negitive side of Tony that no one wants to see. Be the bigger person.
I agree completely with 1969RS. Well said. I’m no saint and his saying BS did not offend me. Consistency is key, cable vs network not being an issue.
Tony has the snotty attitude like KB, but you can’t deny he’s got talent. I’ll take “real” over “PC” any day.
Give the Smoke devotees their due. Congrats!
Those who can, drive and curse.
Those who can’t commentate.
Just the same, watching with my grandson I felt it was in poor taste to expose him to this language
It always amazes me that NASCAR (”a family sport”) freaks when someone says some word that shouldn’t be uttered on tv. BUT, have you EVER listened to basketball players while ON the court playing a game? Every other word out of their mouth begins with the letter “F”. They’re suppposed to be role models as well. Nobody loses a gasket over that! And as an aside… I was more concerned about the kids in the Corvette as well.
Listen up you so called race fans! This is auto racing your watching! The racers will sometimes bump another car! Sometimes on purpose,Sometimes not.If you don’t want contact try knitting or painting. Auto racing has always been full of contact. THAT’S RACING
All of you people get real. I for one don’t like to hear these kind of words either. HOWEVER, people do make mistakes from time to time. I be willing to bet most of the people that complaining on here uses those words from time to time. The person that didn’t want to have his grandson hear those words, all I can say is don’t send the kid to school, shopping, for that matter don’t send him out of the house, and turn off the TV, Radio. I agree with the one person that said people complaining about of a slip of the tongue (maybe) and no one ever complain about the commercials that show people in their underwear or less, and the other crap TV has to offer. Life is life don’t be Naïve. Those kind of fines are stupid unless these drivers do it all the time. Most of you down these drivers for the very same you all do. As they say if you don’t want to hear or see things don’t watch.
Fair is fair – treat everyone alike – yes, Tony should be fined just like Jr -although the one sho got away with it was Kyle Petty – what he said was much more offensive to everyone. The fact it came over the radio doesn’t matter, he has chosen to be a commentator and knew he was on the air and had been for the entire time he was on the racetrack.
gain, ti was more offensive and had to be appologized for and yet it was hushed up and not mentioned again – fair is fair – not always in NASCAR!
Be it cable or network, the option to run a delay is there – they could have bleeped it if they wanted to. I don’t find it offensive (personally, I really started enjoying the races when Robby Gordon called Michael Waltrip a POS on the air a couple of years ago – I lmao), but if one driver gets called out for a specific action or behavior, then the same rules should apply to everyone.
To “David”: It is understable that you don’t want to expose your grandson to “bad” language, but to shield one from the realities of life leave one vulnerable. If a “bad” word is subjected to “tender ears” then at least turn it into an education of “WHY” it is improper to use such language. The real world is out there and we must all deal with it on it’s terms.
Rae, you are right. I had forgotten about the Kyle Petty deal. Funny how nothing happened there. I guess they view that as radio communication and not “on air” interview.
Robbie, the words you hear NBA players spewing from the court is the same thing as language you would hear over the driver / crew chief radio. If anyone has listened in on those conversations at the track (and I am sure many of us have) I have heard disclaimers mentioned over the air on some teams radios prior to the race begining, specifically mentioning the possible use of inappropriate language. That is completely different than using what NASCAR deems as “innapropriate” language during an on air interview.
Again, the BS word does not offend me. Heck, I probably used it twice already today and it’s not even noon yet! My point was that NASCAR needs to be consistant with the penalty. I originally thought the fine to Jr. for using the BS word was excessive, but since NASCAR did it for Jr. they need to do it for Tony.
We really cannot complain about what we hear a driver say over the in car radio or any jesters he may happen to make to another driver. We have asked to enter their world inside their car. Welcome to it. Like my Dad use to tell me, “Son, be careful what you ask for, you may get it”.
This cracks me up. Perception is everything. Michael Waltrip flips his personal ride, flees the scene to hide in his poolhouse and NASCAR sweeps it under the rug. When was the last time the comedian(Waltrip) exposed his wit in a interview? Hendrick Motor Sports gets busted at Infineon for cheating. How many times has that happened now? Chad Knous gets busted for cheating every year. Anyways, Nobody interviewed the golden boys, aka Gordon and Johnson on how or why thier templates were different than the other 41 cars. Tony Stewart swears on tv and he’s treated like he exposed Janet Jackson’s breast at the Super Bowl halftime show. Give me a break! NASCAR rules are all over the richtor scale. All NASCAR drivers have some kind of attitude…ALL OF THEM. If you think your driver is an angel because he signed little Billys t-shirt and took a picture with the family, think again. These guys are out there for one thing and that is to win. The camera crews, networks and viewers are in the drivers world, not the other way around. Attitudes will continue to motivate the sport. You might want to cover your ears once in a while. It happens in every sport.
You can tell we have entered the second half of racing!! Here we go. GREEN,GREEN,GREEN!! Swear all you want and climb that damn fence.
We love ya
p.s. I got your kitty rite here baby….
Mr. Attitude Stewart needs to get the same penalty as Jr. or anyone else who has a “slip of the tongue”. I am not a Jr. fan but what is fair for one, is fair for the next one.
With all of you do-gooders whining about a slip of a tongue to bad people can’t fine you when you have a slip of the tongue in PUBLIC.
I remember when people just watched raising while drinking a beer and nobody wined about language or the ads.You just enjoyed racing and relaxed. Is it that bad that the old times have to go and we gotta cry about cursing and ads?I’m sorry but I don’t think it is nascars responsibility to watch what my kids hear but mine. They know what is wrong and right and if we as parents can teach our kids that then a little swearing isn’t gonna hurt.As my 11 year old would say, build a bridge and get over it. Or as I would say, stop making a mountain out of a mole hill.
I beleive if one driver get’s in
trouble for bad mouth so should
they all.
They didn’t let Dale Jr get away
with it so Tony shouldn’t get away with it.
why should he be any better? He’s supposed to be a grown man and should have respect for his fans and other drivers that use control of there tempers and tounge.
I’m a Tony fan, who loves him for both his ability and his personality. Sometimes he makes me want to climb the wall with what he says, but I support him anyway. As well, I’m a grown man who in the heat of the moment might drop a 4 letter bomb. Be that as it may, I believe that Tony should be fined. We fans love to complain when NASCAR isn’t consistent, we should strive for them to become consistent. If that means my driver takes a 25 point ding because that’s the established practice, then so be it. It is what it is.
I like looking at women even when they have big breasts, advertisers know that about the average male. as far as the swear word, It was fleeeeding so the High Court of our fine country says its ok
All of this whining and crying on here for what? Something most of you say everyday in front of your family, friends and in the general public? You watch movies with your families that has worse words than this and all of it is ok? Then a driver say something and all of you are crying, Talking about Double standards. What I think they should do is give jr points and money back to him and fine the alot of you for being whiners and displaying your double standards on here in public. It’s one of those things that people now days-it’s ok if I do it however if you do, cry cry.
that wasnt a good move by tony.. even though people here these words everyday.. its live television, and remember there are a lot of children whatching nascar… lots of tony stewart fans.. he is setting a very bad example.
I think most of all i have read here is BS.
Tony is a pillar and yes he had a slip but I think it was wrong when they punished Jr and I think it would be wrong now. Let racers have feelings they are human too.
Let Drivers be drivers. Its on cable and very much accepted in today’s world to let a few curse words fly. As far as keeping things fair, that’s BS! if NASCAR made a mistake with Jr they should not make the same mistake again with Tony. Live and learn. Keep the fines and point reductions aimed at on the track violations.
Yep, he dropped the “S-bomb”. Yep, it was intentional. Yep, he knew better. Yep NASCAR® should fine him for doing it on TV.
Was it ill-intentioned? No. As a Stewart fan I know first-hand the “BS” he mentioned. People have called me names, spit at me, and even tossed a beverage or two just because I choose to wear orange and a #20. Sadly, most of those ‘idiots’ are fans of drivers who got in front of Tony and screwed up, then received the consequences of their carelessness on the track.
Six years ago, they would have just said “That’s why they call him ‘The Intimidator’ I guess” if Dale Sr. had done the same thing, and he did.
Difference is: Tony isn’t Big E, and he doesn’t try to be. But he knows how to race hard, and he doesn’t take stuff off of reporters (”I haven’t seen one of you commentators try to climb the fence yet”) and he doesn’t think his fans should take stuff from other fans because they choose to support Home Depot® racing.
There is a decorum that needs to be followed when on TV, after all there are small children watching. So fine him, keep the consistency in policy and punishment, but don’t discount his reasons for saying what he did.
Remember the dozen people in Alabama who got arrested because they didn’t like Jeff Gordon tying Earnhardt’s win record… I mean really didn’t like it, but if they’ll do that, NASCAR® understands fan loyalty, and disloyalty.
Isn’t it ESPN’s responceabilty to have a 9 second delay to prevent this from happing? Yes it is! Radio and t.v. have alway’s had this. ESPN- (is not NASCAR friendly) ABC can get it right through the final chase.
I really dosen’t matter what Tony does or say’s..The media always wants to blow it out of proportion…Why don’t they report on some of the Good things Tony does..like Donates Millions to under privlage Children, Or pay thousands to sponser Midgets and Sprints so young guys can have a chance at the big time…To me Tony is like a breath of fresh air..He’s the only Driver to act like himself and tell it like it is…..Don’t Change For no one Tony..Just keep Winning!…..Without Tony the whole nascar Deal could be pretty boring..You never know what Tony will do next..He’s the real Deal..Not some TV Actor thats been Programed by Nascar…
I am a Dale Jr fan and I hold nothing against Tony Stewart. After all they usually race as unofficial teammates. But I do think fair is fair. I was at Talladega when Jr “slipped” and subsequently was fined. It was a conversation about his Dad if I recall and he really didnt mean much by it. I believe Tony should be fined. Nascar is always under the microscope for being consistent, here’s a chance to prove they can be.
Is this some kind of a joke. That he thinks he can run the track and do know wrong. All we hear Stewart this and Stwart that.He is know better then Dale Jr.When he had points takeing away from him and find.
What is the difference then a football player spiking the ball in the enzone and doin that god forsaken dance when he scores a touchdown then a driver doing what he does when he wins a long race, Rather if it is doin doughnuts on the track, grass or in Tonys case climbing the fence, it is the feel of victory. I bet if the fence wasnt there hed be in the crowed. At least he knows its the fasns that helped him get there. Those who talk poorley bout the victory release must never have had the chance to work so hard to gain what is so highly needed…..”VICTORY…I WON”. Keep goin Tony. regardless if they like it or not, yr fans do, and dont forget it.
I am a Stewart fan, and I agree that being fined and docked points is stupid, but since Jr. had it done, Stewart should as well. Go #20, Go!!!!! As for Petty saying the “f” word, that should have been bleeped with a delay, but it wasn’t. He should have been fined and docked points as well. And the point about the “intimidator” saying words, that was before NASCAR got PC. Since they fined Jr., they need to keep it the same with everyone.
so what Tony said BS do any of you watch TV if you all what to whine about cursing on TV whine about some of the show that use allot worse word then BS.
If they don’t want drivers to curse in interviews they should wait awhile until they’re not so excited and emotional. How would you feel if you had a mircophone stuck in your face when you are in an emotional state excited or mad.
So he said bs If you watch the interview from the last race he won I believe you can note after climbing the fence a reporter said you seem to be getting slower at that….. And Tony said lets see you get your fat a** up there. If your not going to fine him for that than leave this alone but why fine junior then just be consistant!!!
Thanks 9 fan, but my pick for the race was Kasey. I was hoping he would do good. Anyway, all this crap about Tony saying a “bad” word. Fine him and be consistent, then move on. He’s a winner, he’ll overcome it.
I thought there was supposed to be a 7 second delay in nascar? Who cares what he said. I hear curse words every day. I do agree however that nascar should be fined for opening pit road to soon. that could have been a catastrophe.
Tony Stewart just didn’t have a slip of the tongue. DE Jr was fined, so should Tony….my grandkids watch Nascar w/me and they were sertainly aware tht Tony said a “bad” word…some big sport hero he is….the BS word that “slipped” came off as very arrogant, but then that is Toney isn’t it!! I guess anger mngmt didn’t take the first time,,,
So Tony said a bad word! Fine the man and move on. He’s not the first to do something like that and he won’t be the last. sounds like some on here have a few issues of their own.
I don’t know why Steve threw this out as a question. There’s no question at all. He gets the same fate as Jr.
Lana, and the rest of you- if you are so worried about your grand kids hearing a bad word, maybe you need to take their dvd’s, tv, radio away from them. Don’t let them out doors. The lot of you whining about a bad word. I hear worse words than that standing in line at the movies, grocery store, picnics, etc. So what do you think a BIG sport hero is in your mind? The ones that say worse words than that you can hear on the field, court? The sports hero that take drugs-steroids, or the ones that gets caught having a Dog fighting ring?
Some of you people live in LA LA land. You the ones, that keep saying on here well my grand kids watches the race, and they hear a bad word. I bet you anything the very ones that wrote those comments are the ones that these kids hear grandpa say worse things than tony said all most everyday. Then you come on here and gripe about a word. That a-way grand parents and parents Do as I say but not as I do.
Regarding the “7 second delay”, maybe it is in place, but think about it….it is the media. Media thrives on getting people to talk about something. And if it involves a incident or program on thier network, wouldn’t it benefit them? Maybe the producers (who guage their success on viewership and feedback from their program)left the BS word in so all of us could be talking about it days afterwards.
How many remember the “wardrobe issue” at the superbowl a few years back? Can you name the two teams playing that day? Can’t say I can, but I recall the incident. It worked, they left a memorable moment in my mind.
Welcome to the wonderful world of media hype.
I think that it would be a shame if NASCAR does not fine Stewart. They sure did fine Dale Earnhardt Jr. for swearing on the air. What penalty is good for Jr. should be used for Stewart.
SORRY HE WAS JUST TELLING IT LIKE IT IS!! AT LEAST TONY HAS THE BALLS TO SAY IT!!
If memory serves me well, if you check in to it, ESPN is on cable and their fcc rules are different from those of ABC
I think Nascar has to be fair and fine Tony, Dale Jr’s was completely innocent slip with ” this aint sh@t” compairing his win to his dad’s. Tony’s was deliberate. I like Tony Stewart, but he isn’t any better than any of the other drivers on the field and he should not be treated different.
Stewart fined $25,000, docked 25 points for cursing on TV.. Way to be consistent Nascar..
Maybe now Tony will learn to act like the professional he’s paid to be .. somehow i doubt it.
If the cable rules apply to the non delay broadcast, then grow up and quit your crying about Smoke saying bs. ESPN should not have the broadcast rights then. Maybe the family channel would bid on Tony does Indy
I am not a Stewart fan, BUT I heard the interview on sirius, and was trying to figure out the curse word he had used. There was no anger behind the word so I think it carries some different impact. I know these guys are icons for there sponsors, but let’s remember this started as a redneck sport which is why millions love it. Gotta say I am on Smoke’s side on this one. Remember who his sponsors target market is. Ever been to a construction sight without the earplugs in???
can we say…..”FREEDOM OF SPEECH”,YOU KNOW YOU CAN CHANGE THE CHANNEL ON YOUR T.V…..
This is not good language for kids. I know they hear, learn it, and say it because there heros do it. Think about it people, wake up and smell the SMOKE.
There is no FREEDOM of speech. You can’t go around and yell fire in a movie theator, or say say Hi-Jack on on a plane, or you going to kill someone. Well I guess you can if you want to get into alot of trouble. Yes you can change the channel. I think this thing about tony or jr is stupid. You hear it on tv everyday. Nascar rules, some of them are stupid. These drivers are human JUST LIKE YOU.
Amen Happy Day! These guys are human and they make mistakes too. I dare to say that Tony hasn’t thought anything else about the incident since it happened. I believe he probably has more important things on his mind, like the next race.
not for me, yes you are correct these kids do learn it just about every where-that includes at HOME. Don’t come on here gripe and complain on how these kids should not hear this stuff when they hear it everyday at home, parents allow them watch movies pg, pg13 and some of you let them watch R rated movies. TV already have been mentioned.
TONY REMINDS ME ALOT OF DALE, SR. TONY JUST TELLS IT LIKE IT IS & DOESN’T CARE WHO LIKES IT OR NOT. I SAY, GO TONY!!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. YOU’RE ON YOUR WAY TO ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON. MY WHOLE FAMILY THINKS TONY IS THE GREATEST. DON’T HEAR HIM WHINEY LIKE YOU DO WITH JIMMIE & JEFF. LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU IN BRISTOL, TONY.
I have enjoyed reading some of these comments. I don’t care how HOLY you think you are, we all slip up from time to time. No one is perfect. As for Tony, there is another side to that man. I saw the other side to Tony this weekend. When it comes to kids, he has the biggest heart. Look at what he has donated and done for children’s groups, like Victory Junction Gang Camp, Make-A-Wish, etc. For all of you out there…one thing the media didn’t get ahold of is HE MADE A DYING CHILD’S DREAM COME TRUE THIS WEEKEND! I feel the expletive comment is nothing compared to the man’s heart. Good Luck TONY!
Ever since Nascar started the words have flew.
Not that I am condoning bad language.
But Get Real
Those Ads were being subjected to are Worse They Suck!!
And Tony you don’t have to prove your manliness to us by climbing a Fence Just Do Better Burn Outs Ok
Der Duh
Go Ricky Rudd & Ward Burton Oh Yeah The Good Ole Boys
Hate those burn outs I like it what Terry Labonte and the older drivers done when they won. Take a victory lap with a flag, Now that’s class. Instead of this stuff like burnouts, I rather see fence climbing but if I had my choice I would rather see victory laps instead of this kids stuff they resort too.
Ok, so Tony said a curse word and got in trouble for it. Then tell me why when they have the radioes in the cars and a driver (which happens occasionally) says the “F” word over the radio and never gets in trouble for that. It seems Nascar officials intentionally look for certain drivers to pick and Tony has been one of them quite often. Leave him alone!!!
Hey, like previous poster, what is good for the goose etc….Sorry whether it be on the main channels or on cable, you “curse” you pay…Junior had to pay, so should and has Stewart…Seems to me Tony needs to take more anger management courses!..Case in point what he did to Harvick…Sorry don’t feel sorry for him…He did it and he paid…Needs to control himself!
Last commentor…That’s bull…Yes, that the traffic on the driver’s radios are monitored and there is a 5 second delay so the “F” doesn’t get transmitted…To be interviewed and especially after winning…need to think before you speak, goes for all drivers!!…If one does it(like Jr. did, not necessarily a win) watch your mouth…That is was on a cable channel makes no difference…The rules for Nascar should apply over the network or cable spectrum!
MO, that one rule of many of nascar should be thrown out PEIORD!!!!!! I think the people that place comments on here that says if jr get fine so should tony or whats good for one is good for the other etc. Are the people when they where kids if they had grown up that goes run and say to the teacher teacher that person said something how come they don’t get into trouble like I did?
I think NASCAR made a big deal out of nothing. There was no anger intended and very few of us are prudes.
The people who participate in sports ( from baseball to downhill skiing) and any sport in between are ROLL MODELS for our children. If they can do it I can do it. No it just may be against the law. Swearing ( and I do ) teaches children to lack respect for themselves and others. There is a delay in the communications bussiness. Let’s try to use that and stop the word from “slipping out” The sports figures of today have a responsibility to show children “good sportsmanship” and “good manners” Their actions show the type of life they lead. Some of them are in the sewer.
Dustyroads, I do agree with you to a point however The biggest role model or should be is at home So it starts at home first!!!!! Not like alot of people by letting others raise their kid’s and then complain about it.
Tony Stewart!
No respect for others. Wrecks other drivers who have a chance of being in the chase when they are having a bad day! That’s the way he won the championship in 2005. Blames others for his actions–even a driver who drives for the same team! Fits of anger! Dangerous actions! Can’t control his mouth! Vile! Vulgar! Disgusting! Revolting! NASCAR and the public would be so much better off without him. Expelling Stewart from Nascar would take care of all of this. Get him off the track and let’s race! I alsoo agree with Lorelei–Let’s get the alcohol and suggestive advertising out of NASCAR and have a professional sport!
I can’t believe some of these comments from some of these fans that must have just started watching racing in the last few years. Racing has always been a sport that included drivers with great passion, talent and personality. Drivers that live to drive and to win like Tony Stewart. Like the great pass drivers of this sport. If these new fans don’t like what they are hearing and seeing then they need to go back to their boring sheltered life. How many of you folks have never used that word in their own personal life I have to doubt very few.
And for DL from you comments it is obvious that you have no respect for the sport or it’s history. Let’s remember this is stock car racing and I only hope that were continue to have racers like Tony Stewart who’s reason for living is to race and to win. i work for one of the greatest race car drivers in history and he wasn’t out there to be a role model or to please you or anyone else he was out there to win and to drive a race car to the best of his ability.
Yes I do have passion and respect for the sport, and for people, too.
Much of Tony Stewart’s behavior has nothing to do with racing. He has passion only for Tony Stewart. He has no respect for anyone.
Tony has all the right in the world to say what he wishes. Most people think it is wrong but that is because they are scared to say what is on their minds. More people need to be brave and speak their minds like Tony.
Never fall short ,Tony never gets away with nothing ,guy can’t even enjoy his win ,without nascar or someone getting after him for being a great guy and driver that Tony is. Leave him alone ,will you …I too never heard the bad word he was supposed to have said either …. KEEP CHIN UP TONY AND WON ……
PEOPLE NEED TO STOP ACTING LIKE THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD A CURSE WORD IN THEIR LIVES. MOVIES AND REGULAR TV SHOWS HAVE WORSE LANGUAGE NOT TO MENTION NUDITY. BIG DEAL IF TONY CURSED – GET OVER IT! DO YOU CONDEMN YOUR FRIENDS BECAUSE THEY CURSE?
he always does that!carl edwards does a backflip but noone says anything to him.i think the fence climbing thing is neat
GROW UP PEOPLE! This is ridiculous! If you are this sensitive stop watching!
