See Future NASCAR Stars Today
Thursday July 19, 2007
The current NEXTEL Cup stars have this weekend off. However, instead of going through withdrawal head out to your local race track and experience the grass roots of NASCAR. Whether your local track is dirt or asphalt doesn't matter. Tomorrow's NASCAR stars are learning the ropes this weekend at small tracks across the country.
Why not check out your local race track this weekend? You can get your fill of motorsports, meet a lot of great people and just maybe see a future NASCAR superstar in the making.

Indiana use to be the hot bed for future NASCAR drivers. #24 #20,Mark Martin and J.J. Yeley was Tony Stewarts driver for a few years in USAC in Ins.. Eldora speedway in Rossberg Ohio is owned by Tony Stewart now and is a fast and dangerous track. Winchester speedway use to be the fast half mile anywhere. Now they have very few races there. What tracks are close to you other fans out there?
We have a town dirt track, Darlington is 40 minutes away (but it’s being refurbed), there’s a dirt track down near Augusta and Charlotte’s “other track” is only 2 hours away. Just don’t have enough time to hit all the venues, so I stick to the cup races right now. Part of my learning NASCAR, I siscovered — hey, there are A LOT of tracks across this country! Go enjoy ‘em!
*discovered
not siscovered.
Sheesh.
Steve, would you please explaine to me,how the Owner & Driver points work?
How many points per race can a team earn? How long will the points last, months, years, ect.?

Kevinfan, Steve has an article that explains the points system. Just look in the left hand column near the top for “How The NASCAR Point System Works.” Hopefully this will answer your questions.

There is a dirt track here in Tulare, CA Thunderbowl. Also in Madera is a track, Nascar west races there sometime. It is about 1 1/2 hour drive away. Here I hear the races and hope to go to the next one.
We have Baer Field Speedway here in Fort Wayne, In. Might go check it out this summer, never been there and have lived here all my life. 15 bucks to get in though, kinda expensive. So happy to hear that Tony won the last race!
Nothing like short track paved track racing they have in Wisconsin. Home state of the winningest short track driver Dick Trickle. You have Golden Sand Speedway in Plover, WI., Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, WI., LaCrosse Speedway in LaCrosse, WI. Capitol Speedway in Oregon, WI., Dells Motor Speedway in Wisc. Dells, numerous short tracks around Milwaulkee, Green Bay. Man I can smell the cheap popcorn and Pabst Blue Ribbon beer already.
I have since moved from Wisconsin, but a person could easilly start on a Wednesday nite and see a local race each nite thru Sunday. Not sure how many of these tracks still exsist, but man, it was fun.
We have at least 5 dirt tracks here within a 50 mile drive from Springfield. I drive a Bomber class car at Airport Raceway, and occasionally at the other local tracks. I would just like to encourage all NASCAR fans to find and support your local track. Most of us race entirely on our own money and we do it for the fans!
Nothing beats a good dirt track when there Sprints cars racing. We have Skagit speedway here north of Seattle. It’s had a low period for a few years, had to go watch the cars at Evergreen speedway, and then Kasey decided leave to go with NASCAR. Now it’s better, Never was impressed with him
KEEP YOUR EYE ON LANDON CASSILL FROM IOWA….HAD BAD LUCK IN HIS FIRST BUSCH RACE BUT HE WILL CONTINUE HIS SUCCESS FROM HERE ON OUT!!!!
Man, where do I start to unload all my fellings. I have followed NASCAR for over thirty years and the words Hip Hop, just broke the camels back. I put up with the COT, and all the Yuppie CRAP, but you win NASCAR, I QUIT. Now I will go for long rides on Sunday on my new Harley.
GOOD LUCK NASCAR, your going to need it….
