Pepsi 400 Marks 2007 Halfway Point

Thursday July 5, 2007
2007 Pepsi 400 at Daytona International SpeedwayThe Pepsi 400 marks the traditional halfway point of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup season. Daytona International Speedway is the first race track that the drivers will return to for a second time this year. The Race to the Chase is underway as we are counting down to Richmond and the cutoff before the Chase for the Cup begins.

Kevin Harvick won a thrilling, but controversial, Daytona 500 here in February. Yet somehow he doesn't even make my list of favorites for this weekend's race.

I absoulutly love Daytona. Use to love it more before restrictor plates.
It is Daytona!
This will be the last superspeedway race with the COY (car of yesterday). The superspeedways going forward will be with the new COT starting with ‘Degga.
Could be Juniors day. They have run strong on restrictor plate tracks. Hope the racing is good and tight with no “big one”, but with Juan Pablo trying to pass on the first lap on the inside, who knows.
That will be my prediction, Junior wins, Juan causes the “big one”. Sorry #42 fans.

I am in agreement with you about Juan Pablo. He needs to learn some patience soon before somebody teaches it to him. He has the physical skills to win many races, just needs to learn the mental ones. Most races are at least 400 to 500 miles long, you can’t win it on the first lap.

FYI, for those who do not care for the lengthy pre race show, pre race coverage begins at 7pm Eastern, race begins at 8pm Eastern, according to our great moderator Steve.
Or in terms I understand better, burgers, brats and beer at 7pm eastern!

Can’t wait ! I like night racing ,somehow it just looks faster . It also give me time to finish working around the house in the day . Now with a little luck John Andretti will take home the checkers .Long shot maybe but he has won it before .

My pick is Kasey Kahne takes the checkers. Since we’re wishing, why not?
Let’s go racin’!! Cheers y’all!

Ilove the turning point. Night racing is the best.

I think that Martin Truex Jr. and Dale Jr. have the inside track here.

I agree with 1969rs, i think if there’s a big one , it will be caused by Juan Pablo Mightwreckyou. Someone needs to show him how it feels to be wrecked instead of how it feels to wreck everyone else.

I hope Tony Stewart puts Pablo straight into the wall on the way to his 3rd Pepsi 400 win! Go Tony….

(11) MISSY says:

TODAYS RACES ARE SO BORING I WISH NASCAR WOULD LET THE DRIVERS DECIDE WHO WILL ON THE TRACK…I MEAN THE CARS TODAY ARE SO WELL BUILT FOR SAFETY LET THE DRIVERS GET OUT THERE AND GO FOR IT..AND IF THE CRY BABIES (JEFF GORDON) CAN’T HANDLE THE WAY THE OTHER DRIVERS ARE DRIVING MAYBE THEY SHOULD BE SITTING IN THE STANDS INSTEAD OF THE DRIVERS SEAT..

(12) Gordonfan says:

Missy, MIssy, Missy! When will you people learn that your bad-mouthing Gordon makes you the whiners, not him. With talent like his, you don’t have to whine. You can get P.O’d though when people give their very knowledgeable (yeah!) comments.

(13) MISSY says:

GORDONFAN!!! THERES NO DOUBT GORDON HAS TALENT BUT HE IS ONE OF THOSE DRIVERS THAT THINK EVERYTHING SHOULD GO HIS WAY OR ELSE THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE SYSTEM.HE USED TO LIKE THE BUMPDRAFT UNTIL OTHER DRIVERS CAME ALONG THAT COULD DO IT BETTER THEN HIM..NO HE CRIES ABOUT IT…

We absolutely hate the “wide open coverage”. It is annoying. Please get rid of it! I didn’t buy a big screen tv to have the bottom half of it cut off to show commercials. It stinks. Please make it go away!
