NASCAR Scanners For Dad

Monday June 11, 2007
Father's Day is coming up this weekend. If you are stuck for a Father's Day gift idea how about a scanner for him to take to the races? I am a firm believer that every race fan should have a scanner with him when he heads off to the track. A scanner helps keep you informed about what is going on and really adds to the fun of seeing a race in person.

To help make your shopping easier here are the top five scanners to take to the races.

Yes I got one of those scanners It was the Hendrick model 2448 it came with 4 free race wins for a whole year!! my Dad loves it.

Darn Vito, maybe I should take my red DEIBUDJR8 model back. Seems like it come close to good receiption, but then fades out. Hmmmm.

Seriously, I bought an RCA race Scanner about 8 years ago. Still works well today. It is a hoot listening to the driver / crew chief conversations. Some teams are scrambling their signal, but most do not. It is always a challenge inputting the frequencies in before the race. I am sure that the technology today verses 8 years ago, there is probably a card that can be purchased and inserted into the scanner with the frequencies already programed.
If not, I would like to officially take credit for that idea Racing Radio companies. :-)

Ok now you did it, Now the people think there is a conspiracy going to go out and buy one of these radios and wait to hear a crew member tell the driver to turn on the valve for the additive to the engine, or turn on the supercharger so they can win the race.

(4) 1969rs says:

…better yet, someone will hear Nascar say, “Jeff, don’t worry, we will throw the yellow just before Newman passes you”, or “Cue the spinning car as Johnson is just getting ready to go down a lap.”

(5) ha says:

Jeff tells his crew I sure like this new 427 engine it’s alot better than those 360’s the rest of the teams are useing.

(6) 1969RS says:

LOL!!!!

Hey, breaking news…Jr is announcing Wednesday that he is joining Hendricks Motorsports. WOW.
Cannot say I am surprized as it would have to be a big time team and have to be Chevys. Hope he takes Bud with him. I really do not want to re-invest in Jr stuff. Wonder what the Bud can throwing fans think now?

(7) Steve McCormick says:

Don’t jump the gun yet. Last week everyone was POSITIVE that he was going to Gibbs.

Lets wait until tomorrow’s press conference. That’s why it’s not here yet. I don’t announce until it’s news.

(8) 1969rs says:

Understand Steve. Here is my disclaimer

“This is the sole opinion of 1969RS and is no way at this point factual or the opinion of Steve McCormick who is our great moderator of this site”.

The source of my info is reporter Marty Smith via XM radio.
FYI, I was not positive he was going to Gibbs. He is one of the best things that has happened to Bud in years, and I could not see him leaving Bud. I also did not see Bud going to Gibbs because of Gibbs religious reasons, which I totally respect.
Childress is out of town, but that could be a decoy.
Ginn has reported that they are not a part of the news conferance. Don’t see him going to Roush because their stable is full of talent and Fords.
Steve, I will bet you a case of Bud.

(9) john says:

OK If it is true about JR, When the teams can only have 4 cars. Who will be the unlucky one in the hendricks stable? We can only hope the #5.

June 12, 2007 at 4:34 pm
(10) john says:

It’s also on NASCAR.com about jr

June 12, 2007 at 5:18 pm
(11) 1969rs says:

I think it would be #5 Shrub.
He is under contract thru 2008, but rumors have it that he has been asking to be released. I do not think it would be Casey as he has been very focused, no controversy, and everyone likes him.
If this happens, the Hendricks could be like the Yankees (when they were winning).

(12) Mule with no name. says:

kyle is like his older brother can’t live up to his contract and want to run away.

June 13, 2007 at 12:03 am
(13) Leanna says:

I have a couple of scanners but have not used them lately. CA speedway lost a lot when they forgot to send us the new bill. We had good seats too. sniff sniff. Anyway gonna try again one of these days to see how they are working now. I am waiting for the news break Steve. I think I will stay home to see them.

June 13, 2007 at 10:19 am
(14) BIGBOBSR says:

If JR goes to Hendricks it must be because Nascar wants to keep the Hendricks conspiracy strong.ether that or they want to keep the JR fans from crying when Jeff Gordon wins.Lets see how many fans cry foul if JR Ever wins another race.

June 13, 2007 at 10:30 am
(15) 1969rs says:

Yep, big conspiracy theory. Also heard that Elvis and Jim Morrison will be running Busch cars for Hendricks.
It will be interesting when the news breaks and Steve posts the topic (I assume you will Steve), how many of the conspiracy theorists will be on thier soap box. It is hillarious.
Simple math, Jr. wants to win races and championships. Just like any other sport where a player wants to win the Superbowl or World series, you go where you have a chance at doing that.

June 14, 2007 at 12:49 am
(16) Eric says:

Hey, all I just had a thought. Lets do the math.
Ralph Earnhardt gives us 8
Dale Earnhardt, Sr subtract 3
Now replace Kyle Busch
Dale Earnhardt, Jr 5

How is that for coincidence, I dont care what he drives or for whom
as long as I get to watch and root for him.
