Martin Truex Jr. Wins In Dover

Monday June 4, 2007
Today Martin Truex Jr. scored the first NEXTEL Cup points victory of his promising career. Dover International Speedway was the site of today's rain delayed Autism Speaks 400 presented by Visa. Truex dominated today, leading over half of the race as this race was never in serious doubt over the final 50 laps.

Kurt Busch found himself in hot water with NASCAR. Kurt was parked by NASCAR during the race for swerving alongside Tony Stewart on pit road and nearly hitting one of Stewart's crew members. Kurt obviously wasn't thinking clearly. I am sure NASCAR will have more to say about this when penalties are handed out later this week.

Can someone please tell me (I had to work)How did junior lose 2 tires and four laps? Was it debris on the track? Brushing the Wall or What?

Sorry Eric, I can not tell you much of anything about the race. I did hear the final 40 laps. I did however get LOST when Jimmie broke loose trying to pass Martin, then (even after the caution) he just went backwards. Anyway as deserving as the HENDRICK BUNCH may be, it was kinda nice to see someone different in victory lane. And a BRAND NEW FIRST TIME WINNER was icing on the cake. Congrats Martin!!!! GO KAHNE

Eric, I think Junior’s issue was set up related. He was wearing the tires down to the cord. Did not seem to be debris or brushing the wall related.
I know at one point, Gordon was turning in the corners well, but was not getting bite and he was running poor. They reduced the tire pressure in the rear and he finished in the top 10. Early on, Junior was running up front but was eating up tires.
I think the track was very finicky. It was a green track, combined with COT and the Dover cement, if you were off a little on the set up, it was severe.
Many teams were struggling.

With the track being green (No Rubber) because it had all been washed off from the rain, Tires on some cars were down to the cords on the outside after 20 laps. 1969rs said it. It was car set-up. You had to run low the first half of the race to stay in what little rubber there was but if you had an ill handling car, it would push in the middle and drift up to the green very abbrasive concrete track surface and just eat up the tires. Good job Truex though!

I do have to say that is interview after he was parked was a much “calmer” interview than I have seen from him in the past.
But I agree RAYMAN, he does have some issues. Must run in the family.
Bitter beer face!

(12) David says:

Kurt Busch could have killed or seriously injured one of Tony Stewart’s crew members! I really think a fine and loss of points is not enough. Maybe being suspended for a few races would get Kurt’s attention.

(13) Liz says:

Busch better get fined. He is dangerous
what an idiot.. hitting tony in the pit..Nascar had better take care of busch.

(14) 9fan says:

Busch needs more than just a fine! He should have to sit out of a few races to realize just because is a Busch doesn
t mean he can get by with it. Stewart was punished for his anger Busch is no better. NASCAR was stiff on Evernham team so let’s see how Busch is going to be punished.

Thanks to everyone for the info about junior/the tires. I dont how ever think that a suspension is going to change Kurts attitude I mean he was suspended what last year or the year before after his Run in with police. And the lasting effects are??????
